Training and Development
Training refers to a planned effort by a company to facilitate employees’ learning of job related
competencies. These competencies include
1. Knowledge
2. Skills
3. Behaviors that are critical for successful job performance
Development:
Development is a process that creates growth, progress, positive change or the addition of
physical, economic, environmental, social and demographic components.
Introduction of the organization
IZHAR GROUP was established in 1959 by Engineer lzhar Ahmad Qureshi who was highly
regarded amongst the veteran engineer’s community of Pakistan Izhar Group” has entered into its
7th decade of pioneering the construction operations.
Vision statement:
To become the Market Leader in Services and Products of Construction, Concrete and Steel
Industry.
Mission statement:
Keeping the customers our first priority our mission is to deliver the best quality of construction,
concrete and steel services and products through innovative engineering and efficient processes.
Literature Review
◦ Training prescribes teaching, operational or technical employees for how to do the job for
which they were hired. Whereas ―Development‖ is the schedule, program, and process of its
implementation that teaching managers and professionals used the skill needed for both
present and future jobs (Griffin W.; 2000).
◦ Strategic approach to training and development necessitates increased theoretical rigor, more
rigorous evaluation of effectiveness, and resolution of responsibility for training. Journal of
European Industrial Training, 1999.
◦ As Aswathappa, (1998)address, job analysis or studying ones employee‘s background is useful
for an HRD manager or other concerned body as much as enough it can helps him/her known
what a given job demands from the incumbent terms of knowledge and skills. Training and
Development programs can be designed depending on the job requirements.
Research Methodology
This is a Qualitative Descriptive study. This is a qualitative research as it will
embody the first-hand observation of the Training and Development dynamics
in the Izhar Group of Companies by conducting the interviews and observing
the processes in their natural setting.
Research Design
In order to investigate the Human Resource development and training dynamics
as well as the effects of HRD efforts on their employees the Case-study research
design will be used for it. This design supports the collection and analysis of
data by interviewing the HRD professionals in the organization.

How do you asses the training needs of your employees?

Izhar group conduct effective training need analysis process we follow three
steps of an effective need analysis.
Step 1: Determine the Desired Outcome.
Step:2 Determine the current outcome.
Step 3:Determine the Cause of the Performance Gap, and Offer Solutions.
How do you conduct the evaluation of your
employees?
When Izhar group set goals and standards for workers, Izhar group spells out
exactly what they will have to do to achieve them.
◦ First of all Izhar group keep remarks clear and concise.
◦ Izhar group provide employees with a copy of the completed evaluation form.
◦ Keep employee review meetings a two-way conversation.
What are your practices for socialization of
your new employees?
The first day Izhar group provide an orientation session for new employees.
Izhar group also arrange department to department dinner and tours for
employees for socializing employees we encouraging after-work gatherings.

Is it necessary for an organization to give
training to their employees?
◦ Yes definitely, its crucial to give trainings to the employees of organization as
they need it to perform better for organization. But, it has to be different kinds
of trainings for employees according to the department and levels.

◦ Izhar group plan an orientation session for a new/fresh employee who has just
joined the organization.
◦ So, that orientation is actually the training in which company’s policies,
culture, rules and regulations, code of conduct , its ethics SOPs are mention.
◦ The purpose of orientation is to guide and instruct an employee for better
understanding of company’s goals and code of conduct so that he/she can
perform accordingly.
Is the training session really effective?

◦ Yes, it is really effective. By giving trainings employees start giving


output more effectively and efficiently.
What is the purpose of training and
development in your organization?
◦ As the time passes, new technology came into existence. Izhar
group start adopting new and latest technologies and stop using old
technology.
◦ This way Izhar group step further and further by new technologies
and development.

Does your organization provide training to
every employee?
◦ When an employee joins an organization, the training they receive
is called On-Job training. Orientation is also a part of it. The rest of
the training is given to an employee when he works. By assessment
of his work, Izhar group came to know what other training he
needs. This training is not given to everyone. It is provided as per
the need so that he can do his job better.
Tell me about those specific skills which you
bring into the employees?
◦ Within training and development, analysis is different for each employee, because mindset is
different.
◦ On the basis of individual analysis when weakness is identified in employee then the training
plans are made to overcome the gap.

in Training Employees?
◦ There are different training methods which Izhar group use to train their
employees.

◦ Sometimes employee are gathered in the training halls in the form of groups.
◦ Sometimes in the form of mob.
◦ Through various games.
◦ Through tours.
Why is on-the-job training important for the
development of employees in a company?
◦ Employee needs to be full aware about the values and norms ​of the company.

What is Duration of training program at
your organization?
◦ First of all, Izhar group training is On demand. Izhar group training is also
given after 3 months, 6 months and a year and whenever any weakness of an
employee comes to light, training is also given to that employee on the same
occasion. Basically this training is given after every one year, the rest can be
given whenever there is any weakness.
What are the benefits your organization
getting from training?
Basically the employee is groomed and his scope is open. With training, an
employee is able to do his job better.

Whether training is an expensive process or
not?
◦ Each company has its own budget based on its advantages and disadvantages.
With that in mind, a company pays for its own training. Izhar group spend on
training how to keep up with Izhar’s competitors and how Izhar group can be
better, keeping in mind Izhar’s future benefits. By spending money on training
program, Izhar group makes employees groomed, retained and benefited.

Conclusion
◦ T&D at Izhar is good but there is still need of improvement . There must be a
linkage between organizational and personal training. They should provide
computer based training. Every department should make their training
program. Off the job training should be provided. Skill based training also be
provided.
◦ Make T&D in the house to reduce cost. At the end except above all the Izhar
T&D program is highly beneficial for the employee and the organization.
