What is relaxation?
• “relaxation” means the state of being free from
tension and anxiety recreating or rest ;especially
after a period of work.
• It is a technique often use to calm ourselves
thereby decreases anxiety and control arousal
• It can increase the sense of control thus helps to
feel calm and comfortable.
• Relaxation technique discovered by Herbert
Benson.
DEFINATION
• A Relaxation technique is any method process
or activity that helps a person to relax ,to
reduce, to attain a state of increased calmness
or reduces levels of pain, anxiety ,stress or
anger.
OR
• Relaxation is a state of mental calm and focus
free from unnecessary bodily tension.
PURPOSE
• The goal of relaxation therapy is to calm the
brain ,to permit thinking process to stream in
an even ,smooth pace and trigger the
relaxation reaction.
• To improve circulation
• To relieve muscle fatigue
• To improve physical and mental health
• To improve physiological function
