Birth control pills are a group of

drugs used to prevent pregnancy.
There are two types of birth control
pills, namely combination birth
control pills and progestin-only
birth control pills.
 Birth control pills
progestin pill
The progestin pill is a hormonal method
in the form of a pill that contains only
the hormone progestin that can be given
to mothers who are breastfeeding
exclusively because it does not interfere
with the formation of breast milk.
Effective if taken properly and correctly.
Does not interfere with sexual
intercourse and milk production. The
side effect that often appears is
menstrual disturbances
Combination pills
Combination pills are hormonal contraceptives
in the form of pills containing the hormones
estrogen and progesterone to prevent egg
maturation. Effective if taken regularly and
correctly and does not interfere with sexual
intercourse. Must be taken every day, all
women of reproductive age can use this
contraceptive. Women who are exclusively
breastfeeding are not recommended to use this
contraceptive. Can be used as emergency
contraception
 How to use birth control pills

• Make sure the medicine and expiration date and the packaging are not damaged
• Explain how to drink in the order of arrows
• Remove the medicine from the blister by pressing the blister so that the medicine
comes out
28-pill pack • Take medicine starting during menstruation according to the day of the blister
• Drink with water, preferably at night, and at the same time every time day
• If vomiting occurs within 2 hours of taking the pill, take another pill and
• drink it again. If vomiting or diarrhea lasts more than 2 days take hormonal pills
immediately, use a backup method for the next 7 days, and if you have had sex in
the last 5 days consider emergency contraception.
21-pill pack • If you forget to take a pill for 1 day, take the pill as soon as you remember. If you
forget 2 or more pills, you should take 2 pills every day and also use another
method of contraception (condoms) or don't have sex until your period comes.
• If you forget 3 days or more or are late to start a new pack for 3 or more births
immediately take hormonal pills, use the backup method for 7 days
 Effectiveness birth control pills

• Progestin pills
The effectiveness of progestin pills in the first
year occurs in 1 pregnancy in 100 women, and
1-3 per 1000 women fail. Less effective for
women who are not breastfeeding because 3-10
pregnancies can occur per 100 women in the
first year of use

• Combination pills
The effectiveness of the combined pill in the
first year occurs in 8 pregnancies out of 100
women, and 1-3 per 1000 women fail.
Side effect birth control pills
have the same effectless menstruation
and shorter days, irregular
menstruation, infrequent
menstruation, even no menstruation.
Headache, dizziness, nausea, breast
tenderness, weight changes, mood and
acne, increased pressure. But
progestin pills that do not interfere
with milk production, must be taken
every day, do not interfere with
fertility, do not cause women to
become infertile, do not cause diarrhea
in breastfed babies.
