INTRODUCTION:

This project is mainly discussed about the design and

working of Human following robot. A robot capable of
locating and following a human target moving in a domestic
environment as well as industrial area.
The primary goal of our work was to design and fabricate a
robot that not only tracks the target but also moves towards
it while doing the tracking.
So, we present a prototype of a human following robot that
uses Arduino Uno and different sensors for detection and
following an object.

OVERVIEW

A human-following robot requires several techniques such

as human's target detection, robot control algorithm and
obstacles avoidance.
The robot needs a mechanism which can make decision for
it to take action accordingly so that the task can be
performed correctly. The involved mechanism is sensor that
can detect obstacles or object around the robot itself.
So for example, anything comes near to the left sensor then
Arduino will get the information that there is something is
near to the left sensor and according to the code the robot
will turn to the left, and same process for the right sensor
also. In this way the robot detect objects and move
accordingly.

OVERVIEW

• Keeping in mind, there should be a protective

system that collects information about its
surroundings while operating; making it capable of
avoiding any obstacle in its range. This is done by
using an ultrasonic sensor which provides
information about the robot surroundings. All the
processing is done on two Arduino microcontrollers
communicating seamlessly.
APPLICATIONS

In hotels they are being used for the transfer of things from
one place to another following a straight path.
They can be used in industries as automated equipment
carriers..
Similarly it can assist the public in shopping malls. So there
it can act as a luggage carrier, hence no need to carry up the
weights or to pull that. Using this algorithm the robot will
automatically follow that person.

CONCLUSIONS

• The human following robot is an automobile system that has

ability to recognize obstacle, move and change the robot's
position towards the subject in the best way to remain on its
track. This project uses Arduino, motors different types of
sensors to achieve its goal.
• Ample amount of modifications could be done to this
prototype for far and wide applications.
