Topic: The Surroundings

surroundings.
Relate the importance of surroundings
to people and other living things.
ENGAGE

*Let the pupils sing the song entitled


“Bahay Kubo.”
*Ask the pupils what things found in
the bahay kubo. You can also show
picture of a bahay kubo and ask the
pupils what are the things they see in
the picture.
EXPLORE
*Give them the opportunity to go out into
the classroom to observe the environment
or take them tour outside the classroom.
Then ask them the following questions:
a. What did you see in these places?
Describe what you saw.
b. Are these things important in an
environment of the school?
EXPLAIN
*The environment includes everything plus the air,
sun, water, weather, and the Earth itself.
*Plants are the primary habitat for thousands of
other organisms. Animals live in, on, or under
plants. They provide shelter and safety for animals.
They also provide a place for animals to find other
food. On a small scale, plants provide shade, help
moderate the temperature, and protect animals
from the wind. On a large scale, such as in
rainforests, plants actually change the rainfall
patterns over large areas of the earth’s surface.

A Walk in the Garden
*Objective:
Name the things found in the garden.
Group things as to the living or non-living thing.
*Materials:
Paper, pencil or pen
*Procedure:
Take a walk in the garden.
Observe and write your observation in a piece of
paper.
*Questions:
1. What are the living and non-living
things in the garden?
2. How many kinds of plants did you see?
What are they?
3. Did you see animals? What are they?
4. Complete the table below.

*Instruct the pupils to write a short
paragraph about the following
questions:
1. Why should you keep our
surroundings clean and orderly?
