150 KILOMETERS from the province of Panama stands
Penonomé, a city of tradition and legend, history and hospitable

you have been in Penonomé:
1. The park December 8

talk, laugh and play? Then do not forget to visit the
park on December 8. Beautiful and cozy, full of trees
and with a beautiful gazebo, it is the perfect place to
enjoy the breeze and the colors of summer afternoons.
Here you will see the statue of Simón Bolívar. As a
good colonial-style city, the park is surrounded by
important buildings such as the cathedral, the guard or
the government, which makes it a vital site for the city.
2. Saint John the Baptist Cathedral

Built in the mid-16th century, this holy

building is the center of religious activities in
Penonomé. If you want to witness some of the
most deeply rooted religious traditions of
these lands, don't miss "la borriquita", a
performance held on Palm Sunday to
commemorate the triumphal entry of Jesus or
the festivities in honor of the Immaculate
Virgin Mary, patron saint of the place. held in
December.

geographical center of the Republic of
Panama

but also for being the headquarters of the Penonomé
Aquatic Carnivals, unique in the country and which
consist of a parade of rafts built and decorated by the

in the historic neighborhood of San Antonio,

of pre-Columbian art, religious art and
historical furniture.

Madrid
Two of the former presidents of the Republic of
Panama, Harmodio and Arnulfo Arias Madrid,
were born in Penonomé and for a few years they
have had a place dedicated not only to their life
and work, but also to the history that they had to
live and do, to culture and entertainment. An
excellent opportunity to learn and understand
more about the history of this country.

If you want to buy fresh products, see the comings and goings
of people from the most remote places of the province to trade
their products or try countless tropical fruits, be sure to visit the

the Municipal Palace, was built to honor the mothers
from Penonomñas.
9. Monument to Victoriano Lorenzo

Our indigenous leader Victoriano Lorenzo, born in the

Penonomeños fields, also has his space on the central avenue,
very close to the Monument to the Mothers. His fight against
injustice, his charisma and his leadership skills made him a
national hero who, of course, ended his days executed.
10. Craft market

And if you want a souvenir of your visit to Penonomé, don't

forget to stop by the handicrafts market, where you will find
everything from fiber-woven objects such as baskets and straw
hats, to articles carved in soapstone, wood or clay, and of course
traditional desserts such as milk eggs, manjar or cocadas.

The construction of this park began in 2012 and has required an

investment of 564 million dollars to become a reality. With the
construction of the park, less dependence on fossil fuels is
achieved, reducing emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide
