ZERO BUDGET
NATURAL FARMING
(ZBNF)

• Zero Budget Natural Farming

(ZBNF) or holistic agriculture is a
method of agriculture that counters
the commercial expenditure and
things required for the growth of
plant are present around the root
zone.
PALEKAR'S VISION

• His vision is zero  buget natural

farming
• Which will help in reducing the
unnecessary load on farmers
• And reduce the percentage of the
suicides
SOME UNIQUE QUALITY OF ZBNF

 Zero Input
 98 to 98.5% nutrients are taken from air, water & solar energy.
 Remaining 1.5% nutrients available free of cost

Zero budget natural farming reduces the
initial cost of farmers.

Farmer’s income automatically increases.

Advantages of Zero
Budget Natural
The soil ecosystem improves.
Farming

Cow dung adds soil value. It is full of

nutrients value and available locally.
Bacteria of cow dung decompose the organic matter
in soil and make soil for the plants.

It required less electricity and water.

Advantages of Zero
Budget Natural
ZBNF improves the productivity of the soil.
Farming (contd.)

It decreases the disease attack risk on the crop.

This farming method used in some parts of
India.

The type of farming being debated, and there is

Disadvantages of Zero not much scientific research under evaluation.
Budget Natural
Farming It is highly sustainable farming.

This farming technique used in negligible areas.

ZBNF V/S ORGANIC

Zero Budget Natural Framing

Organic Farming
{ZBNF}
• No external fertilizers are used  • Organic fertilizers are used .e.g
• No tilling and no mixing .  cow dung
• Low cost farming  • Requires basic agro methods
like mixing & tilling
• It is expensive due to bulk
manures
SUCCESS STORY OF
ZBNF IN PUNJAB

• Charanjit Singh Punni at Chaina

village in Faridkot wasn't satisfied
with organic farming and was
suffering huge losses.
• It was becoming costlier than
chemical farming," he says
SUCCESS STORY
contd.
• Last year, Punni converted only about a
hectare of his land to natural farming
• Punni managed to sell his naturally
grown wheat at Rs 20 per kg this year,
while the bansi variety fetched him Rs 30
per kg against the government rate of Rs
8.5. And he earned amount of benefit
from farming is more than 1 lakh from a
hectare.

CONCLUSION
• Savings on cost of seeds, fertilizers and plant protection
chemicals has been substantial.
• Because of continuous incorporation of organic residues and
replenishment of soil fertility. Helps to maintain the soil
health.
• The new system of farming has freed the farmers from the
debt trap and it has instilled in them a renewed sense of
confidence to make farming an economically viable venture
