INTRODUCTION
Palm vein technology is one of the upcoming technology.
Itis the world’s first contactless personal identification system
that uses the vein patterns in human palms to confirm a person’s
identity.
It is highly secure and accurate.
The contactless feature gives it a hygienic advantage over other
biometric authentication technologies.
Ituses the vascular patterns of an individual’s palm as personal
identification.

REGISTERING THROUGH PALM VEIN SCANNER
STEP 1:
Simply hold your palm a few centimeters Over
the scanner and within a second it reads your
unique vein pattern. A vein picture is taken and a
palm pattern is registered.
STEP 2:
• The registered palm pattern is stored in
the database along with the personal
details of the client. 7

WHAT HAPPENS
IF THE REGISTERED
PALM GETS DAMAGED?
There may be a chance that the palm we had registered may get
damaged then we cannot use this technology, so during the time
of registration, we take the veins of both the hands so that if one
gets damaged we can access it through the second hand. When
the hand gets damaged up to large extent we can get veins
because deeper into the hand veins are obtained. When we apply
this method we can maintain complete privacy.

APPLICATIONS
BANKING AND ATMs
The application of Biometric solutions in banks and ATMs
provides high server security & avoids card forgery. There
is a smartcard, on which the client's unique palm vein
pattern is stored. At an ATM the client can authorize by
scanning his palm vein pattern & let the ATM compare it
with the palm vein pattern stored in the database.
PERSONAL COMPUTERS AND LAPTOPS
• For authorized LOGIN into personal computers. For folder
security & to protect input and output data.
STAFF ON TIME
• “Staff on time” Palm Scan Indoor is used in industries to
provide access to their employees

APPLICATIONS
IN HOSPITALS
In the medical environment, there is a strong demand
for especially hygienic biometric devices. Palm Secure
device is used in hospitals for doctor and patient
identification.
HOME APPLIANCES
• In front of the doors has a door lock to protect the
entrance and exit. It is also used in laboratories where
high security is maintained.

ADVANTAGES OF
PLAM VEIN
TECHNOLOGY
It is very fast that it scans the palm within 2.18sec.
Palm has no hair so it is easy to photograph the vascular
pattern.
Forgery of vein pattern is impossible because no one in the
world would have the same vein pattern even twins.
Skin Color does not affect the Scanner Outcome.
No more problems of forgetting passwords and ids.
The cost of a palm vein scanner is around 300$-400$. 13

DISADVANTAGES
OF PALM VEIN
TECHNOLOGY
There are numerous factors that can affect the quality of the
captured image such as body temperature, humidity, heat
radiation, nearness of vein to the surface, camera calibration,
and focus.
It is still relatively expensive and not available for mass
production yet.
