method:
1. Direct Expansion (DX) system
2. Chilled Water (Indirect)
system
In this system, the principles of mechanical refrigeration
used.
The refrigerant is compressed, cooled , allowed to expand
and then passed through coils.
The coils absorb the heat from incoming air.
Examples are:
1. Room Air Conditioners (RAC)
2. Packaged Units
3. Split AC
4. Central Direct Expansion Plants
The air is conditioned in a central plant and conveyed by
means of ducts.
2 types:
1. Single Duct System
2. Dual Duct System
Simplest and most commonly used of all AC systems
Supply of conditioned air to rooms having similar heat
load conditions.
Control of temperature and humidity from thermostat
and humidistat placed centrally.

AH
U D D D D
Conveys cold air in one duct and hot air in another duct
The air enters a mixing box, where the room thermostat
controls the mixing of cold and hot air to achieve the desired
temperature
The air is then admitted into the space by
diffusers.
