PADLET APPLICATION

Padlet is a useful tool in the information literacy classroom because it works on a vari-
ety of different devices, does not require participants to create accounts to use it, and
requires no special technical know-how” (Fuchs, 2014). It means that using Padlet in
instruction has provided a supportive space for collection and classroom collaboration
because students are encouraged to contribute and learn from one another.
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES PADLET

ADVANTAGES

1. First, Padlet facilitates a group discussion in online learning. Padlet used to share ideas, assignments, and comments on
Padlet group.
2. Second, Padlet can give some motivation to the students. Long, Ming, and Chen (2013: Wulandari, 2018) stated that motiva-
tion has a significant role to learn writing because motivation supports learning writing activities which have been conducted
in internal process of learning writing. Students who have high motivation will be active to learn writing, express their under -
standing about writing and focus on attention in class to master writing as well as regular learning in the classroom (Guzer &
Caner, 2013; Dewitt, 2015).
3. Third, Padlet has shown significance in improving writing where the platform gives an opportunity to share students’ as -
signments and receive feedbacks.

DISADVANTAGES
1. First, main problem using Padlet is error the internet connection. Not all students can access the internet due to the connection
error. Sherif (2015) explained that the connection error as one of the problems when students join in an online learning activity.
2. Second, Padlet has its limitation to organize input on the wall. Students often find some files in the crowded walls as they write
on Padlet. The wall will look messy and disorganized. It is supported by Deni and Zainal (2015), the arrangement of posting on
the wall is disorganized and its effect of the posting will be unreadable.
3. Third, students can cheat other students’ works. According to Raines and Brown (2011) revealed that a clear majority of students
in online learning want to be dishonesty. Students may have motivation to increase their scores through seeing other students’
work.
The Implementation of Padlet

In action to implementation padlet, the teacher did these following activities (Fadhilawati et.al., 2022):
1) The teacher said hello to the students (in the direct class or online class)
2) The teacher asked leading question about what material to be delivered,
3) The teacher explained the learning objectives,
4) The teacher told the students about Padlet and ask the students to click www.padlet.com,
5) The students created account in padlet
6) The students learned what material to be delivered by the teacher, it that had been prepared in Padlet by the teacher,
7) The students and the teachers had discussion about what is from the materials prepared in Padlet,
8) The Students learned vocabulary of related to the material being studied that useful to write down context of the mate-
rial that embedded in Padlet,
9) The students learned to practice the padlet
10) The students submitted their work,
11) The teacher gave feedback to the students’ masterpiece,
12) The students concluded today's lesson and,
13) The students and the teacher ended the class.
CONCLUSION

The teacher use padlet as one of the alternative media to create a creative and interesting teaching-learning
process especially writing, because padlet are also known as online whiteboards. This application is very
easy to use and very affordable to be applied for learning in this modern era or 21th learning century.
