• What is Suffix ?
• A suffix is a letter or group of letters added
at the end of a word to make a new word.
• Examples of Suffixes are ly, ness, ation,
tion, logy, etc
suffix -ly

• Adding -ly to the end of a noun turns

the word into an adjective.
• Adding -ly to the end of an adjective will
turn the word into an adverb. Eg Slow
=Slowly, Soft =Softly

1. Just add -ly

2. If the root word ends in ‘y’, change the ‘y’ to an ‘i’ and add ‘-ly’.

3. If the root word ends in ‘-le’, change the ‘-le to ‘-ly’.

4. If the root word ends in ‘-ic’, add ‘-ally’

5. There are some exceptions however
