What is Mangement?

 Management is an art of getting things done through and with the people in
formally organized groups,
 It is an art of creating an environment in which people can perform and
individuals and co-operate towards attainment of group goals.

 Management us an art of knowing what to do, when to do and see that it is


done in the best and cheapest way.

Functions of Management
 Planning – the most fundamental of the management functions, and as such it

logically precedes all the other functions;

- is the projection of actions intended to reach specific goals.

- begins with the questions of What and Why, then focuses on the
How, When, Who, and Where.
Functions of Mangement
 Organizing - is the process of getting up to implement discussions that result
from the planning process; in other words, it is the establishment
of the structure in which the work gets done.

- involves delineating tasks and establishing a framework of


authority and responsibility for the people who will perform
these tasks; building the aforementioned structure.
Functions of Management
 Controlling - Involves establishing performance standards and monitoring the
output of employees to ensure each employee’s performance
meets those standards.

- is follow-up and correction.

 Leading - Is the use of influence to motivate employees to achieve
organizational goals“

- a charisma od a leader to generate enthusiasm and inspire effort to


achieve goals
