WHAT IS PROLOQUO2GO?

• An AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) app on iOS


• Converts icons and text into synthetic speech (Alper, 2017)
• Beneficial for those with complex communication needs
HOW PROLOQUO2GO IS USED IN A CLASSROOM

• Students are provided an iPad with the Proloquo2Go app installed on it


• Training would be provided to the student on how to use the app
• The app would be used to encourage communication from the student
POSITIVES OF USING PROLOQUO2GO

• Students gain a “voice”


• App is adjustable to the student’s skill level
• Contains a vast list of vocabulary words
• Many options for customization
NEGATIVES OF USING PROLOQUO2GO

• Only available on iOS (iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch)


• Costs $250, but does offer a bulk discount
• Parents would likely receive little to no training on using the app with their student

• iPad can be a distraction since other apps may be accessible (Apler, 2017, p 90)
• The abundance of options could be overwhelming
