“An idiom is a commonly used
expression whose meaning
does not relate to the
literal meaning of its words.”.

▪ Remember, Idiom does not represent
the literal meaning of the word. For
example :
▪ “Ants in your pants” does not mean
that we have ants inside our pants,
but it means that it represent the
meaning of someone who cannot
stay still.

What is Simile?
“A simile is a figure of speech
that compares two different
things in an interesting way. ”.

•You were as brave as a lion.
•They fought like cats and dogs.
•He is as funny as a barrel of monkeys.
•This house is as clean as a whistle.
•He is as strong as an ox.
•They are as different as night and day.

• Remember, Simile is used to compare two things in a non literal


meaning or in an interesting way.
