would benefit them in holistic growth. and ultimate goal is not only to provide

SOS PROGRAMMES:

Each children's village has 12-15 family homes, with

every home consisting of 10 children on an average
along with an SOS mother. All round development
including education, nutrition, health and psychological
development is taken care of till the children are
settled in their lives.

The village is headed by the village director, with the

supervision of sos mothers and sos aunt’s who
manages the village with the assistance co workers.

SITE DETAILS:
SITE AREA -8 Acres
SITE LOCATION-Near Maqboolpura, Punjab.
Maqboolpura, a village barely a couple of km away from Amritsar, is
wedded to sorrows inflicted on its people by the menace of drugs.
A small locality of about 25,000 residents, who settled here primarily as
refugees immediately after the Partition, is known as the Village of
Widows and Orphans owing to the deaths of more than 400 people.
Whether it's Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Taran Taran or towns and villages close
to the India-Pakistan border, drugs have become a bane for these areas.
Punjab is reportedly the transit route for international drug rackets to
Indian cities and overseas.
Inclusion of such community in this village would definitely reduce the
crime rate, and provide a better life style and community for the whole
village.

PROPOSAL 2-SCHOOL FOR ALTERNATIVE
EDUCATION (HYPOTHETICAL)
SCALE OF THE PROJECT -1200 students

NEED FOR THE PROJECT:

Indian system of education is mostly focussed on scoring high marks in examination that tests
the limited skills mostly Academic, the fact that each child is different is ignored in a majority of
schools, where conformity is preferred over diversity. Childrens are railroaded into a testing
culture that squeezes out the joy of learning and turns schools into ‘factories’. which majorly
kills creativity of the child. Hence there is need of flexible methodology or curricula which focus
more on the holistic growth of the childrens.
Waldorf Education system:
The basis of the Waldorf curriculum is the developing human being and the aim is to
prepare children for life. We believe that Waldorf Education has the power to awaken in
growing human beings those forces and abilities that they will need for the rest of their
lives in order to work competently for their community of contemporaries and to have a
livelihood that will sustain them.
