DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM
The Special Program in Information and Communications
Technology (SP-ICT) is an initiative program of the Division
of Nueva Ecija for Junior High School students with talents
and skills in Information and Communications Technology
(ICT).
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
•Any graduating grade 6 pupil from private or public
elementary is entitled to apply to the program provided that
he/she has an average grade of at least 85 % (first to third
quarters or general average if graduated).

•The student applicant shall take the admission
test and skills test to be scheduled by the
implementing schools on January or February to
be administered by the division and school
committee.

•Only top forty (40) students who passed
the qualifying examination and skills test
shall be admitted in the program.

•In case that the number of qualified applicants
exceeds forty, the school head shall check the capacity
of the school to open additional sections provided that
the number of students shall limit only to forty (40)
students per section.
RETENTION
The student shall maintain a final grade of 85
% in the ICT subjects and with no grades in
any quarter lower than 80% to be retained in the
program.
TRANSFER
Students from SP-ICT class with outstanding
status can be accommodated to another schools
offering SP-ICT.
CURRICULAR OFFERING
The SP-ICT curriculum is aligned to
the K to 12 curriculum.
CURRICULAR OFFERING
There shall be a total of six (6) ICT subjects to
be added in the regular subjects, one ICT subject
in grades 7 & 8 and two ICT subjects in grades 9
& 10.
CURRICULAR OFFERING
Each ICT subject shall have at least 60
minutes per day or 240 minutes per week
with 160 total number of hours.
CURRICULAR OFFERING
The TLE subject in grades 7 & 8 shall
cover ICT related topics (Office Productivity
2 and Digital Media) with 160 total number
of hours each subject.
CURRICULAR OFFERING
Computer System Servicing 1 & 2 shall
be given to TLE 9 & 10 respectively
leading to NC assessment.

ASSESSMENT
The SP-ICT shall follow the K to 12 rating system
stipulated at deped order no. 8, s. 2015 entitled “policy
guidelines on classroom assessment for the K to 12
basic education program”.
ASSESSMENT
The ratings for ICT subjects shall be based
on the rating system used by the TLE
subjects

THERE WILL BE A CULMINATING ACTIVITY
TO BE CONDUCTED BEFORE THE END OF THE
SCHOOL YEAR TO SHOWCASE THE EVIDENCES
OF THE STUDENTS’ OUTPUTS.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
•Giving recognition/ award shall also be based at the
DepEd order no. 36, s. 2016 entitled “ Policy Guidelines
on Awards and Recognition for the K to12 basic
education program”.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
•A set of honor students from the SP-ICT class shall be
given separate recognition from other honor students in
the regular or special classes during awarding
ceremonies.
ADMINISTRATION AND
SUPERVISION
The SP-ICT shall be under the direct supervision of the
schools division superintendent through the assistant schools
division superintendent and chief of curriculum implementation
division and the education program supervisor of ICT and the
Division ICT coordinator.

The school head, the department head in-charge,
shall implement the program together with the ICT
coordinator and teachers at the school level.
EVALUATION OF THE PROGRAM
The division committee shall convene to formulate an
evaluation instrument for the program. The committee consists of
the assistant schools superintendent and the chief in charge of the
curriculum implementation division, and the education program
supervisor of ICT / division ICT coordinator and division IT
officer
