PHOTOGRAPH

Y By Nicolás Rueda
Story
It all started from the dark chamber, a room, as its name says, that is dark and receive
the light (photo) from a little hole in the middle for a long time and in that way it will
be freeze in an inverted picture of the scenery out of the room. It was essentially used
by artist to trace.
Story
Wet collodion:
Getting images by developing with ammoniacal iron sulfate
so the photographers had to take with them a laboratory to
expose them.

Later, gelatin-bromide plates (prepared before, sensitized to

the light) replaced that method, that consisted on a glass
plate on which a solution of cadmium bromide, water and
gelatin sensitized with silver nitrate is spread,. Years later,
those plates were replaced by rolls or reels, taking to light
analogic photography. People had to wait weeks and only
had 12, 20 or 36 photos by reel.

The color photography used three lenses, one red, other

green and the other blue (RGB).

Now, how does
it works now?

Sensor
PA R A M E T E R S
ISO
The ISO sensitivity is how sensitive the sensor would be to the light but
at a higher ISO, less image quality. Its useful if you want to take a frozen
picture but you don’t have enough light
SHUTTER
This curtain is closed ‘til you pressed the
shutter button on your camera, this defines for
how much time the sensor would receive light.
SHUTTER SPEED
The shutter speed is how much time this curtain would be open, receiving light. Its
measured in second matches in decimals or seconds. If you have 1/2000, the shutter
would be open for one second divided in 2000 parts. As less exposure time, you would
need more light or a higher ISO so the photo will be more “freeze”
FO CAL APERTURE
Or f-number, defines the radio of the systems focal length to the diameter of the
entrance of the pupil. Is indicated with the f/n (For example, f/1.8). As higher the f
number, less bokeh (focus) the photo would have. As less is the number (f/1.8, for
example),
MEGA PIXELS
This value just defines how big is the archive, how many pixels has the photo. That
doesn’t mean that the photo would have more quality, just more resolution
RAW FO R MAT
This format of picture is highly recommended by professional photographers because
this format keeps the lightning information, unlike JPEG that if a part of the photo has
so many light or is so dark, you will lose the information. RAW, despite of the light in
that part, keeps the information so you can recover it in a editing program.
PROGRAMS TO EDIT PHOTOS
I personally use Lightroom or Snapseed in the mobile (Sometimes VSCO). Lightroom
is specialized on editing the photos and supports RAW format. Photoshop and
Snapseed also supports RAW. Photoshop is more used to editing, graphics and
montages.
