The Pre-Deployment
Assessment consists of 3
Tests:
1. Language Assessment
2. Driving Assessment
3. Shooting Assessment

1.Language Assessment
There are Four segments of the test:
1.1 Reading Comprehension
1.2 Listening Comprehension
1.3 Report Writing
1.4 One to One Interview

1.1 Reading Comprehension
• A written report will be provided which consists
of initial report, one or more follow up reports
• 10 questions
• Time - 15 minutes
• Pass marks is 60%
• Not emphasis on grammar or spellings.
• Meaning is important.
• Should be legible hand writing.
• 1 mark for one correct answer and ½ mark for
incomplete answer.

1.2 Listening Comprehension
• Audio Tape will be played.
• A Police related incident which will be in 3
continuous parts: Explanation, Summary
of incident, and Dialogue about the
incident.
• Tape will be played only once.
• If you cant hear, you have to inform at the
beginning.
• Will be given a blank paper before play the
tape.

• Make notes on the blank paper provided to
you in any language.
• Do not worry about names and places.
Name and place will be written on the
black board prior to play the tape.
Therefore, do not worry about names and
places.
• If you miss some thing in the first segment,
it will repeat in the other segment.
• When answer, complete information is
required.

• You have to answer 10 questions.
• Time is 15 minutes.
• Pass marks is 60%.
• 1 mark for one correct answer and ½ mark
for incomplete answer.

1.3 Report Writing
• Audio tape will be played.
• Tape will be played only once.
• If you can’t hear, you have to inform at
the beginning.
• The tape consists of 3 segments:
1. Explanation
2. Summery of the incident.
3. Dialogue between two or more persons.
Will provide same information as
provided in part two.

• Name places will be written on the black
board before play the tape.
• A blank paper will be given. You can make
notes in any language.
• A blank Form of Incident will be provided.
The Form is only a guide. You can enter
expected information in the Form.
• Report should write on the paper provided
for it. Marks will not be given for notes on
the blank paper, and information in the
Incident Form.

• There are more than 20 facts in the
audio tape. You have to write the report
including at least 20 facts.
• Marking will depend on:
1. Number of salient facts mentioned.
2. Sentence structure and grammar.
3. Correct sequence of events.
4. Accuracy of information.
• Legible hand writing is essential.
• Pass marks is 60%.
• Time is 30 minutes. 10
• A good report is expected to be:
1. Clear
2. Concise
3. Accurate
4. Mention correct facts, and
5. Legible

1.4 One to One Interview
• This is a pass or fail test.
• A candidate will be tested on ability to
understand and respond to them with
appropriate answers.
• Spoken English, work experience, and
professional skills will be assessed.
• Emphasis will be on:
1. Sentence structure
2. Pronunciation.

3 Amount of information in the answer.
4 More than yes or no answers. Detailed
answers are required.
• Interview will be based on:
1 Your work experience
2 Professional experience
3 Your present and past job.
4 The Mission.
5 The UN.

2. Driving Assessment
• Driving ability and skills will be
evaluated.
The test consists of two phases/exercises:
2.1 Vehicle handling assessment.
2.2 The road exercise.

2.1 Vehicle handling exercise

• The test must be concluded within 3
minutes.
• The candidate will have a maximum
of 3 attempts each for reversing and
moving the car forward once he/she
reversing.
• The driver must show ability to
control basic functions of the
vehicle.

• Fail if:
1 Take more than 3 minutes to
complete the exercise.
2 Stall the vehicle engine more than
once.
3 Vehicle strike a cone.

3.1 Phase One
Disassembling & reassembling of the
Pistol within 5 minutes and safe cleaning

3.2 Phase Two: Shooting – 5 Meters


3.3 Phase Three: Shooting – 7 meters

• Shooting distance- 5 meters
• The weapon in the holster ready for duty
• Drawing the Pistol from the holster each
time on signal from the instructor
• One shoot,
• Five times.
• Target size – 45 cm x 45 cm
• Minimum passing level – 4 round on the
target

• Shooting distance – 7 meters
• With the Pistol in ready position.
• One shoot, five times
• Each shot on signal from the instructor
• Target size – 45 cm x 45 cm
