BARRIER A PERSON WITH DISABILITY


FACES UPTO REHABILITATION PHASE
Disability:
Disability is any conditions that make it more difficult for a person to
do certain activities or effectively interact with the world around them.

Disability barrier:
Anything that prevents a person from fully participating in all aspects of
society because of his or her disability.
Categories of disability barrier:

1. Physiological barrier
2. Communicational barrier
3. Social barrier
4. Organizational barrier
5. Attitudinal barrier
• Physical barrier:
Physical barrier are that which a disable person face by him or herself
physically for daily living. Such as
1. When steps without ramps, elevators, or lift then makes problem
2. Narrow sidewalk, doorways make problem as they cannot walk like
a normal person
3. Low lightening or weak colour contrast.
4. Intolerance of noise
5. Long distance
6. As there is no accessible line areas, waiting areas, or service counter
in our country enough so it’s a barrier for disable person physically.
Communication barrier:
It means any obstacles that block communication.
Communication barrier divided into 2 categories. They are—
# External barrier
# Internal barrier
Example of external barrier may be — noise, environment etc.
Example of internal barrier maybe — cultural, petceptional,
experimental ( lack of experience), linguistic etc.
Attitudinal barrier:
Attitudinal barriers are behaviour, perception, and assumption that discriminate
against Persons with disability.
This barrier often emerge from a lack of understanding, which can lead
People to ignore
To judge
To have misconceptions with a disability person
Anger of the person with disability
Emotion
Lack of confidence etc.
Organizational barrier:
Organizational barrier occurs when policies, practices or procedures
give people with disabilities fewer opportunities than non—disabled
people.
