Solving an Ethical dilemma


POJECT – FIRST TERM
1.- Choose an ethical dilema to analyze
• 1.- Find an ethical dilemma to analyze.
• Advice for step 1 :
• For your analysis choose a situation that you can relate to in your school,
social or family life. Also you may choose a topic you are not related with
but interested about.
• Review the definition of what an ethical dilemma is (Check Servo’s
documents).
2.-Describe the situation in detail
• Describe the situation in detail. Mention the individuals and counterparts
involved in the case.
• Determine why is it consider an ethical dilemma. Explain your reasons.
3.-Moral analysis
• State a moral point of view about the situation described before.
• Remember morals stick to written or not written laws and not in personal
opinions.
• To be able to describe a correct moral analysis for the situation, you
should take in consideration the cultural background of the place and time
of the ethical dilemma. Analyze the laws, traditions, etc.
4.- Ethical analysis
• State your point of view about the former situation according to your ethical
standards. This is marely personal and subjective.
• Make sure to include a list of values taken in consideration in your decision
making.
• For each value, mention why are they important to you. Remember these
answers are subejective and may vary from student to student.
• There are not right or wrong answers. Make sure to write complete sentences
and ideas.
5.-Philosophical analysis
• Choose a philosopher from the ones studied in class (Aristotle, Socrates,
Epicurus)
• Write a summary about their contribution to ethics or morals. Their ethical
or moral perspective in life. In this point you may include quotes and your
ow interpretation of them.
• According to the chosen philosopher, how would you find a solution for
the ethical dilemma? Explain in detail your answer based on the
philosopher’s contributions to ethics and points of view on life, happiness,
virtue,etc.
Presentetion
• Use Word to submit your written analysis at Servo’s platform.
• Font : Arial 12
• Use Power Point to show your slides as a final presentation to the class.
Submit the presentation at Servo too.
• Check spelling and punctuation.
• Bibliography must be included in the Word document.
