APPROPRIATE INSTRUMENTS FOR THE COUNTRY S NEEDS

ENVIROTECH LEADS THE WAY

Evolution of the RDS

First developed in 1990-91
Two stage system for separation of coarse and fine fractions, developed in collaboration with NEERI. Envirotech introduced the RDS almost 4 years before RSPM was included in the Ambient Air Quality Standards in India. Initially introduced as APM451 and later upgraded to APM460.

Today Envirotech produces three variants of the RDS:

APM460BL APM460NL APM460NLDX

The Improved RDS Envirotech APM 460BL

Brushless Blower
Sampling rate does not fluctuate with variation in mains voltage. Low equipment downtime and maintenance costs.

Interference to TVs eliminated and Audible Noise reduced to less than half of previous levels. Castor Wheels added for easier movement of the instrument in the field. Small bulb provided for easier handling at night.

Envirotech APM 460NL For Research & Intensive use

Practically NOISE-LESS operation
of the APM 460NL makes it ideal for monitoring air quality in residential areas or near hospitals, libraries etc.

Main features of the APM 460NL

Sampling rate does not fluctuate with variation in mains voltage. Brushless Blower designed for trouble free operation even with intensive use. No interference to TVs. Low equipment downtime and maintenance costs. However the equipment is heavy and frequent re-location should be avoided.

Envirotech APM 460NLDX

Main Features:
Flow rate automatically controlled to compensate for Dust loading on the filter. Auto Shut-off if flow rate drops below 0.85m3/min. Only instrument that conforms to BIS Low Noise and Brushless Blower

Envirotech APM 460NLDX

Conforms to BIS 5182 (part 23) 2006

Envirotech takes the lead in developing an Indigenous PM2.5 Sampler

Envirotech Introduced the APM550 Fine Particle Sampler in 1999-2000. Early users include: Research & Academic Institutes like:
Jadavpur University & Bose Institute NEERI IITs Kanpur, Mumbai, Roorkee ITRC West Bengal Maharashtra Uttar Pradesh Orissa

Pollution Control Boards:

With more than 100 instruments in the field almost ALL the PM2.5 data from India is based on the Envirotech APM 550 Sampler. The APM 550MFC is an upgraded model of the field proven APM 550.

Fine Particulate Sampler Envirotech APM 550

Critical Orifice maintains flow rate constant at 16.7LPM In-built DRY GAS METER reports total air volume sampled. No electrical / heat dissipation in cabinet housing the Filter Holder ensures volatile fractions of PM2.5 Sample are not lost. Impactors based on designs by US EPA. Same Instrument can be used for PM10 and PM2.5 Sampling.

Fine Particulate Sampler Envirotech APM 550MFC

Mass Flow Sensor based automatic flow control. Inbuilt Ambient Pressure & Temp. Sensor for reporting correct Volumetric Flow rate. Data Logger records Flow Rate, Ambient Temp. & Filter Temp. Impactors based on designs by US EPA. Same Instrument can be used for PM10 and PM2.5 Sampling.

PM2.5 Sampler
Why Mass Flow Measurement
Calibration of FLOW SENSOR not dependent on Pressure and Temperature. This implies that air volume measurement becomes more reliable.

Air Volume still to be reported in VOLUMETRIC Units

This implies that measured air volume has to be corrected based on prevailing ambient air temperature and pressure.

Measurement of Gaseous Pollutants

Choices for Wet Chemical Methods
Pollutants that can be easily monitored: SO2 West & Gaeke method Nox Sodium-Arsenite method NH3 Indophenol blue method Ozone Choices of hardware: APM411 Attachment with RDS APM411TE Attachment with RDS APM433 Independent Gaseous Sampler

Measurement of Gaseous Pollutants

The new APM 411TE Gaseous Sampling Attachment
Thermoelectric Coolers keep the impingers at a cool 15C even when ambient temperature reaches 40C Built-in thermostat avoids absorbing reagent freezing in winter nights. Filter dryer tubes & Modified Flow Control Needle Valve Assembly maintain pre-set sampling rate. Dryer tubes have indicating blue-silica gel and can be re-used after a suitable bake. Impingers conform to BIS

APM 433 Gaseous Sampler

Specially tailored for Wet Chemical Methods
Hardware Included to Facilitate Stand Alone Operation: Diaphragm Pump Timer Time Totalizer Important Changes: Pump provides enough suction pressure to allow use of fritted impinger needed for NOx One Impinger with Fritted-disc provided with each unit. Impinger designed for Ozone monitoring provided as an Optional Accessory
