INTRODUCTION
Product reselling
The most common type of drop shipping is where a company finds products from
a variety of sources and makes them available for online purchase all in one place.
These businesses make it easier for the general public to find and purchase these
products. Also, these businesses usually provide extra value through in-depth
reviews of the products, unique content about the products, or a curated library
of resources for the products.

Product creation
Print on demand
Running an ecommerce business is much easier when you don’t have to deal with
physical products. With dropshipping, you don’t have to worry about:
• Managing or paying for a warehouse
• Packing and shipping your orders
• Tracking inventory for accounting reasons
• Handling returns and inbound shipments
• Continually ordering products and managing stock level
Low overhead
Flexible location
Low margins
Inventory issues
If you stock all your own products, it’s relatively simple to keep track of which items are in
and out of stock. But when you’re sourcing from multiple warehouses, which are also
fulfilling orders for other merchants, inventory can change on a daily basis. Fortunately,
these days, there are a handful of apps that let you synchronize with suppliers. So drop
shippers can “pass along” orders to a supplier with a click or two and should be able to
see in real-time how much inventory the supplier has.
Shipping complexities
Supplier errors
Even the best dropshipping suppliers make mistakes fulfilling orders—mistakes for which
you have to take responsibility and apologize. And mediocre and low-quality suppliers
will cause endless frustration with missing items, botched shipments, and low-quality
packing, which can damage your business’s reputation.
The fact is, drop shipping doesn't actually fit into the supply chain.
Drop shipping has no role in the supply chain, per se. It is one of many supply
chain management techniques, and it may or may not be applicable at
all, depending on circumstances. Drop shipping may be more specifically
characterized as a movable part of a supply chain network, where a drop shipper
may be the manufacturer, wholesaler, or retailer. There is no clearly defined role
for a drop shipper because it's the client-facing side of retailing, rather than a part
of the supply chain.
