Guessing time!

Take a guess on how many parts does the flower has?


After dissecting the flower guess the name of its part.
Parts of a flower
Pedicel

 A small stalk or stalk like part bearing a single flower .
Receptacle

It is the enlarged upper end of a flower stalk which


bears the flower or group of flowers.
Sepals

 are modified leaves which enclose and protect the


other parts of a flower when it is still a bud. When
the flower blooms, the sepal supports the bottom of
the flower. A group of sepals is called calyx.
Petal

Form the most obvious part of a flower. Most petals


are brightly colored to attract insects.
Stamen

Stamen is the male part of a flower. It consists of a


filament and the anther.
Filament holds the anther.
 The anther consist of
two lobes that contain
Pollen sac
Pistil

It is the female part of a flower. It consists of the


stigma, style and ovary.
Stigma is swollen structure at the end of a style.
Ovary and Ovule

Ovary, the enlarged portion of the pistil. The ovary


contains ovules, which develops into seeds.
Style and Pollen tube

The style is a stalk that connects the stigma to the


ovary.
Pollen tube is a long tube that travels through the
style until it reaches the ovary.

neighbor and identify the insects that perch on the
flower.
