INTRODUCTION
IoT in Healthcare
IoT technology has a huge impact on human life
in all aspects like medicine, health, industry,
transportation, education, and agriculture from
the last decade.
What is Dementia? Monitoring
Dementia is considered to be a chronic disease, where the elderly suffers
from a deterioration in cognitive functions (i.e., the ability to process
thought) beyond what might be expected from normal younger people.
Srinivas et.al proposed an intelligent medicine box model. The wireless sensors alert patients to the
medication at the right time and updates about the medicine through notices in an android application.
Indoor localization is very beneficial these days to trigger the onset of elderly fall or elopement due to
dementia.
Mobility and activity features have been calculated using specialized global positioning system (GPS) kits
and ankle-worn accelerometers.
Smartphones and wearables have successfully been applied to measure activity among older adults under
free-living conditions, daily step count and distance covered among people with dementia, and life space
among people with Parkinson disease and mild-to-moderate Alzheimer disease.
OBJECTIVE
The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive description about the contribution of IoT in healthcare, specifically
dementia patients.
Sensors
Devices
Edge Computing Cloud Computing
Semantics
SEG 3.0 methodology provides benefits to integrate heterogeneous data collected from different smart devices and provide Semantic
interoperability in IoT domain.
Big Data
A data storage model for emergency healthcare is proposed that uses the volume and variety of healthcare data.
IaaS and SaaS are used to organize heterogeneous physiological data during an emergency which makes it accessible to relevant
healthcare providers
2. Monitoring System
Mobility Measurement
Activity Measurement
3. Remainder System
Medication box consists of sensors for collecting and reporting state of the
patient through its related software control which continuously checks
whether the medicine is taken on time or not.
The passive RFID tags are used to find the location of the Elderly.
Different tag position include (a) neck, (b) ankle, (c) wrist, (d)
shoulders.
When the target enters in the radio range of a single antenna, its
location is assumed to be the same as the location of the antenna.
5. Communication System
Figuring out how to collect, store, process, and analyze the massive amounts of data that healthcare providers receive.
Synchronizing electronic health records collected from IoT-based systems with manual records.
Restriction on Computation
Memory Limitations
Security
Cost
Network Architecture
Data protection
CONCLUSION
Smart systems can facilitate communication, daily assistance and safety assistance to the patient.
Various methods for caring for dementia patients once the disease has been diagnosed.
Make life safer and more comfortable as well as to make the process easier for the patient, caregivers and family
members
