Talking about dividing ourselves as a
society into generations helps us realize
how the passage of time and the large
number of historical events that happen in
a certain number of years have the power
to change people's thinking, their beliefs,
their perspective of life and to modify or
acquire values and behaviors.in this case
we will focus on generation x (1965-1980)
which largely corresponds to our parents
and generation z (1997 onwards) that we
are all young people and the generation
that is about to experience its entry into
"adult" life.
Speaking specifically of generation x, we see how they have specific characteristics such
as being progressive, individualistic, entrepreneurial, ambitious, competitive,
autonomous and independent, and speaking in labor terms they seek to achieve
recognition, they want relationships of authority and they seek permanent feedback, the
classics workaholics It is assumed that being a generation that was not born with the
Internet, they had to learn it quickly at an older age, for this reason it is said that they
are more constant and make more effort than later generations.

This generation seeks stability and


balance, they seek to have a roof over
their heads to sleep and have their three
meals a day, so their motivations and
projections are at work.
Many of the influences of these teenagers in the 80's were the
rise of personal computers, the spread of HIV, the spread of the
internet, the death of John Lennon, Chernobyl, the fall of the
Berlin wall and finally the creation of channels like MTV and
CNN

Focusing on the kind of fashion that was worn at this time, we


have classics from the eighties like shoulder pads, printed
blouses, skinny pants, military boots and leather jackets.
On the other hand, now going into detail
about generation z, we have marked
features, such as the fact that we have
more autonomy to learn on our own, we
tend to be more self-taught and creative,
and we have easy and quick access to
information, which is why we are more
critical and we constantly question what
surrounds us, values that characterize us is
to be supportive, non-conformist and
individualistic. In addition, we are capable
of using communication alternatives, new
channels, environments, ecosystems and
virtual platforms to carry out daily, school
or work activities.
the influences are very wide, having access to a large amount of
information we know much more data and many more people
than another generation could, thanks to the exchange and
interconnection of the world so it can be said that the
perspective is more open and directed towards being empathic
with the diversity of human identity and self-expression.

In matters of fashion, something remarkable is the


demand for inclusion in different aspects, from gender
to body types and they always look for a more realistic
and comfortable product, loose clothing, synthetic
leather, vintage clothing, are a reflection of the taking
advantage of trends, something also very important is
how brands give in to new consumers by offering
alternatives and initiatives that are more respectful of
the environment.
As we can understand, time changes society, advances modify
our goals and the resources we have at hand change our way of
working, so it is necessary to understand that the differences
that exist are often going to be very overwhelming, but That's
not why one is worse than another, we are different, and we
have a mind that works differently because it is used to a
different level of speed in the world and in information. If there
is something that can be done in relation to the comparison of
generations, it is to note that characteristics that have changed
allow us to advance and grow even more in these times, rescue
the good, rebuild the bad, help ourselves to make a world each
all the better for future generations.
