PHYSICAL
ASSESSMENT
FOR NOSE
EQUIPMENT:

• Nonlatex gloves
• Nasal Speculum
• Penlight
• Otoscope
(with wide-tipped speculum attached)
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE:
• Inspect the external nose.
• Examine and palpate the external nose. Take
note of the nasal color, shape, consistency,
and tenderness.
• Examine the flow of air through the nostrils.
• Inspect the internal of the nose. Use an
otoscope to examine the inside of the nose.
