INTRODUCTION
What is Quantitative Research?

a type of research that explains phenomena according to

numerical data.
Analyzed by means of mathematically based statistic
methods.
Quantitative Research enables us to map out and
understand the world in which we live.
I. Anthropology
I. Anthropology
What is Anthropology?

Anthropology comes from the Greek word “Anthropos” means

human and “Logos” means to study. So simple meanings of
Anthropology is “To Study Humans bieng OR Study of Man”.
Anthropology compares human societies across the globe and
across time. We compare present and past forms of government or
legal and religious belief systems, for example. We compare social
structures, like family dynamics, and study transnational
corporations.
I. Anthropology
What are the Research areas of Anthropology?

• study of human culture

• customs and beliefs in pre- industrial society
• ethnography the intensive long term field work
• understand how institutions developed
I. Anthropology
Types of Anthropology

• Political Anthropology - questioned the assumptions of

global politics
• Medicinal Anthropology - explores different experiences of
medicine and diseases
• Historical Anthropology - to re-evaluate old problems and
apply ethnographic methods to modern people in a rapidly
changing and globalizing world.
I. Anthropology

Anthropology helps you to learn about different cultures and

understand what all rituals do the people of a particular
culture follow. It also helps you to find the similarities and
differences between the two cultures, and the history of
humans are some of the important concepts you get to
learn in Anthropology.
II.Communication
II.Communication
What is Communication?

The ability to interpret or translate complex research

findings into language, format, and context that non experts
understand.
There are communication phenomenon that needs to
understand in which researchers are interested about that
might be generalized to a larger population.
II. Communication
Why is Communication important in Quantitative
Research?

- Researchers benefit from having strong communication

skills because it helps them do their jobs better. They can
avoid the spread of false information and maintain ongoing
funding for their study by ensuring sure the general public is
aware of what they are researching.
II. Communication
How is quantitative research relevant to
communication?

-With the help of statistics and figures, quantitative

research generates objective data that can be presented
simply.
II. Communication
What are the Research Areas of Communication?
• Activism, Communication, and Social Justice.
• Communication Neuroscience.
• Critical Journalism Studies.
• Culture and Communication.
• Digital Media and Social Networks.
• Global and Comparative Network.
• Health Communication.
• Media and Communication Effects.
III. Medicines
III. Medicines
What is Medicines?

Medicine is the field of health and healing. It includes

nurses, doctors, and various specialists. It covers
diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, medical
research, and many other aspects of health.
III. Medicines
Where does Medicine come from?

These days, medicines come from a variety of sources.

Many were developed from substances found in nature, and
even today many are extracted from plants. Some
medicines are made in labs by mixing together a number of
chemicals. Others, like penicillin, are byproducts of
organisms such as fungus.
III. Medicines
When does Medicines first invented?

The first modern, pharmaceutical medicine was invented in

1804 by Friedrich Sertürner, a German scientist. He
extracted the main active chemical from opium in his
laboratory and named it morphine, after the Greek god of
sleep.
III. Medicines
Who can give a patient medication?

Prescription-only medicines, such as antibiotics, must be

prescribed by a qualified health professional. This may be a
GP, hospital doctor, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, optometrist,
physiotherapist or podiatrist.
III. Medicines
Why medicine is important ?

Medicines are chemicals or compounds used to cure, halt,

or prevent disease; ease symptoms; or help in the
diagnosis of illnesses. Advances in medicines have enabled
doctors to cure many diseases and save lives.
III. Medicines
How can medicine help our body?

The benefits of medicines are the helpful effects you get

when you use them, such as lowering blood pressure,
curing infection, or relieving pain. The risks of medicines are
the chances that something unwanted or unexpected could
happen to you when you use them.
IV. Psychology
IV. Psychology
What is Psychology?

Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behavior.

Psychology includes the study of conscious and
unconscious phenomena, including feelings and thoughts. It
is an academic discipline of immense scope, crossing the
boundaries between the natural and social sciences.
IV. Psychology
Where does Psychology used for?

It is used to better understand and help people with

psychological disorders, treat mental health problems and
improve the education system, workplace behavior, and
relationships. Psychology can be applied in all areas of life.
IV. Psychology
When does it first begin?

Psychology as a field of experimental study began in 1854

in Leipzig, Germany when Gustav Fechner created the first
theory of how judgments about sensory experiences are
made and how to experiment on them.
IV. Psychology
Who are the people that are Psychology literate?

Psychologists and psychiatrists both help people deal with

emotional issues, but licensed clinical and counseling
psychologists must have a doctorate in psychology, which
requires 5-to-7 years of postgraduate work.
IV. Psychology
Why does people used Psychology for?

Essentially, psychology helps people in large part because

it can explain why people act the way they do. With this kind
of professional insight, a psychologist can help people
improve their decision making, stress management and
behavior based on understanding past behavior to better
predict future behavior.
IV. Psychology
How does the psychologist helps those who needs?

Psychologists can help people learn to cope with stressful

situations, overcome addictions, manage their chronic
illnesses, and tests and assessments that can help
diagnose a condition or tell more about the way a person
thinks, feels, and behaves.
V. Social Science
V. Social Science
What is Social Science?

Social science research, or social research as it is

sometimes called, stems from the natural sciences, and
similar to its precursory field, it uses empirical, measurable
outcomes to arrive at a conclusion.
A social science is any branch of academic study or science
that deals with human behaviour in its social and cultural
aspects.
V. Social Science
Where does Social Science belong?

A social science is any branch of academic study or science

that deals with human behaviour in its social and cultural
aspects.
V. Social Science
When Social Science Become a subject of Research?

The social sciences, as distinct and recognized academic

disciplines, emerged only on the cusp of the 20th century.
V. Social Science
Who invented Social Science?

AUGUSTE COMTE: He was the first to coin the term "social

science" in the nineteenth century. He was a French
philosopher who believed in the concept of positivism, or
that the collected senses made up all worthwhile
information.
David Emile Durkheim: is considered the father of Social
Sciences or Sociology for their remarkable works in laying a
foundation on practical social research
V. Social Science
How and Why is QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH is
Important in Social Science?

The purpose of quantitative research is to attain greater

knowledge and understanding of the social world.
Researchers use quantitative methods to observe situations
or events that affect people. Quantitative research produces
objective data that can be clearly communicated through
statistics and numbers.
V. Social Science

Quantitative research "is the systematic examination of

social phenomena, using statistical models and
mathematical theories to develop, accumulate, and refine
the scientific knowledge base" ("Quantitative Research,"
2008).
