COMMON POULTRY AND LIVESTOCK FARM
TOOLS
Farmers
provide us with foods through domesticated animals.
GARDEN TOOLS
Shovel
Shovels are used for cleaning ditches, digging and
moving soil and other granular material. They are also used
for levelling a base for sill rocks.
Spade
flat metal digging tool with a sharp edge, which allows it
to be used for both digging and for moving dirt, debris and
similar materials.
Rake
Collect chicken poop, leaves, hay, grass, etc., and in
gardening , for loosening the soil, light weeding and
levelling. And generally for purpose in agriculture by the
harrow.
Bolo
The bolo is called an itak in Tagalog. It is use in clearing
vegetation, whether for agriculture or during trail blazing.
Types of Bolo
1. All-purpose bolo. Used for all sorts of odd jobs.
2. Haras. Similar to a small scythe, it is used for cutting tall
grass.

3. Kutsilyo. The term comes from the Spanish word


cuchillo, meaning knife. Generally used to kill and bleed
pigs during slaughter.
4. Bolo-guna. A bolo specifically shaped for digging out
roots and weeding.

5. Garab. Used to harvest rice.

6. Pinuti. Traditionally it is tipped in snake, spider or


scorpion venom and used for self-defense.
7. Sundang. Supposedly used mainly to open coconuts. The
sundang, also called "tip bolo" or itak, was a popular
weapon of choice in the revolution against the Spanish
colonial government and during the Philippine–American
War.
Spading fork
Used for loosening the soil, digging out root crops and
turning over the materials in a compost heap.
ELECTRIC TOOLS
two electric tools farmers must-haves for any type of
around-the-farm construction project:
1. A circular saw
Tool for cutting many materials such as wood, masonry,
plastic, or metal.
2. a drill/driver (preferably the
rechargeable battery operated type).
Used for making round holes or driving fasteners.
HAND TOOLS
Every farm needs a variety of hand tools.
1. 25-foot and a 100-foot tape measure
2. A good claw hammer with a comfortable grip
3. electrician‘s pliers
4. A socket and driver set
5. adjustable wrenches in several sizes
6. A screwdriver set with both regular and
Phillips head drivers
MISCELLANEOUS TOOLS
1. Pocketknives
2. Heavy-duty flashlights
3. Garden hoses
4. Digging Bar
Activity

Demonstrate the use of spade, shovel, spading fork and


rake.
 

Directions:
The students and teacher will go at the backyard garden
Procedures:

1. The teacher will give 10 minutes to the students to


practice on using these tools.

2. Student will approach their teacher if they are ready to


perform the tasks.

3. The teacher will choose among the four suggested tools


for their demonstration. Be prepared for questioning also.

4. Students will be rated by using the given scoring rubrics
