ACTIVITY 1 - Pair Work
Students will be allowed to work in pairs with their
seatmate.
1. Smart cards for the pairs to write on will be given
to each pair.
2. From the title of the lesson which is “FARM
TOOL IN AGRICULTURAL CROP
PRODUCTION”, the students formulate questions
or make predictions about the concepts/topic. Your
questions may be express using Tagalog, English
or Mother Tongue / local dialect.

1 PBL - Make methods and answers count
1. To develop problem-solving strategies, you will be
provided with different hand tools used by the farmers.
2. Demonstrate the correct method of accomplishing the
task. You may use all the tools provided but you need to
select an alternative method if the first method has
proven unsuccessful.
3. Your task is to fill the black plastic bags with garden soil
so that this can be planted with seedlings. Prepare at
least 5 plastic bags filled with soil.
GUIDE QUESTIONS:
1. Can you think of a better way to prepare the task
than using only your hands?
2. Differentiate shovel and hand trowel?
3. How would you generalize using appropriate
tools in accomplishing the task?
4. What would farmers do if they did not have a
tools?
5. How do farm tools help farmers and people like
you and me?
ACTIVITY 2
2 Demonstration - MIXING SOIL MEDIA using appropriate tools
Materials : Saw dust, soil, manure, rice hulls, organic fertilizer
Tools: Shovel, rake, Spading Fork
1. Do body stretching first.
2. Prepare soil media by combining and mixing all materials.
3. Show to the class how you handle the tools.
4. Show finish product in front of the class

1. How does it feel when you do body stretching first before
doing the assigned task?
2. How would you use shovel in mixing soil media?
