HEALTH PROBLEMS

IN THE COMMUNITY

The individual lives not in a vacuum but in an environment composed of

living and non-living things. The environment has a great effect on the
individual, particularly on his or her health. It is important to protect the
symbiotic relationship existing between and among people, plants,
animals, and surroundings. This relationship referred to as the ecosystem.
examples of ecosystem:
Ecologist - people who study the relationship between plants, animals
and their environment.-- ecologists would normally specialise in a
particular type of environment, for example marine or coastal areas, or a
specific animal or plant species. --in short. ecologists are people who
specialize on the study of the ecosystem.

According to ecologists-- as the population grows the environment is badly

affected by the fast growing population. As the population grows, the
demand for the basic needs and means of livelihood increases.
A population is distinct group of
individuals, whether that group
comprises a nation or a group of
people with a common
characteristic. Members of a
population often rely on the same
resources, are subject to similar
environmental constraints, and
depend on the availability of other
members to persist over time.

What means by “growing population” or (population growth)

- the increase in the number of people in a population.
bonus--According to the WHO ( World Health Organization ) the world’s
population grows more than 90 million every year.
“Population growth” This situation may result as a disturbance in the
ecosystem and may become a threat to the people because of the
destruuction of the environment.
- Each unit of the population requires a part of the wealth in the world,
like food, water, soil, and energy.

By the end of the present decade, more than one-hald developing

countries, including the Philippines, will have a problem feeding the
increasing population.
What causes Population growth?

cause of population growth is an imbalance between births and deaths. ... Falling mortality rates are certainly
nothing to complain about either, but widespread longevity does contribute to the mathematics of increasing
population numbers.

What are the negative effects of Population growth?

population growth also leads to negative impacts on the environment such as increasing waste water, household
waste, and other industrial wastes due to human has increased their activities of industrial production.
The effects of the disturbed ecosystem are now
being experienced in many parts of the world.
Several environment problems have risen and
become a threat to the health of the people.
These problems include water, soil, air and noise
pollution, acid rain, flood, global warming and
depletion of the ozone layer.

An example is the fires in the Amazon. it has

been linked to respiratory and cardiovascular
diseases, as well as premature death. The public
health impact of the fires is felt acutely by
Indigenous people in the Amazon.
THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY IN SOLVING HEALTH
PROBLEMS

The environment, the community, and the place we live inare seriously
affected by the various kinds of man-made pollution. Many people have
no concern for the protection of the environment.

They ignore the destruction of the forests, mountains, rivers, canals and
creeks through illegal logging, kaingin, dumping, and burning of garbage.
As consequences, many people
suffer from the calamities brought
about by nature.

finding solutions to enviromental

problems is important in developing
and maintaining a healthful
environment:
clean, green, beautiful, safe,
peaceful and happy.
Finding solutions to save our environment from any problems affecting it,
every member of the community such as ourselves should show each of us has
a responsibility of taking care of, guarding and protecting our environment.

As a member of a family, you should practice healthful habits at home by

keeping your surroundings clean and safe. Such habits includes disposing
garbage properly at home and planting in recycled cans, tires, plastic
containers.

why should we protect our environment?

Our environment is what houses and helps our ecosystem grow and thrive.
Without protecting and taking care of our environment we're putting so many
lives at danger such as animals, plants and crops, and even our own. All of the
ecosystems that make up our environment are deeply connected.
Common solutions to environmental issues:
• Replace disposal items with
reusable items.
• The use of paper should be
avoided.
• Conserve water and electricity.
• Support environmental friendly
practices.
• Recycle the waste to conserve
natural resources.
Practices that are done in support of
goverment projects:
• Urban gardening
• Recycling
• Garbology
• Zero waste management
• Greening
• Beautification
Every family members can help disseminating information about
environmental problems and the proper actions to be taken and participate
actively in the environment-friendly activities of GOs and NGOs.

What are the role of NGOs? What is governmental and
