• Geopolitically, the islands of the Caribbean (the West Indies) are often regarded as
a region of North America sometimes as part of Central America or left as a region
of their own. It is 275,400km squared in area.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT IN THE
CARIBBEAN

• The region is a melting pot of different languages, cuisine, music, and customs.
Its culture is a beautiful blend of a colonial and native elements shaped by each
country's socio-cultural experiences. It is this diversity that gives the Caribbean
region a unique identity.
THE CULTURE

• Here are some of them: Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Rastafarianism,


Buddhism, Traditional African religions, Afro-American religions, Yoruba. Although many
religions are present in the region, it is in the Caribbean culture to be tolerant of other beliefs.

• Roosevelt Skerrit (born 8 June 1972) is a Dominican politician who has been Prime
Minister of Dominica since 2004; he has also been the Member of Parliament for
the Vieille Case constituency since 2000.
