DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

ADOPT A PLANT

Presented By- Shivshankar Soni

Reg No-12111839
Welcome to my First
Project!!
My first project is to adopt plants in and around .I am partnering
with local volunteers that water plants regularly to ensure they
grow into trees.  The areas and number of tress will be
identified and posted on our site.  We have to adopt many
plants.

What are plant
adaptations?
Most living beings require food, water, oxygen, and minerals to
survive and grow on earth. Environment having colder, wetter
and dryer challenges them to survive. So, to understand this we
need to learn about plant adaptations.
Moreover, these survival blockades make plants and animals to
adapt to survival techniques. Adaptations are the quality that
appears in the plants or animal species, which turn out to
improve their survival chances in a particular environment.
These species starts producing more successful offspring for that
environment. The changes can be physical as well as behavioural.
From time to time in response to the conditions all living beings
adapt themselves to survive. Here we will discuss some plant
adaptations and its types in various conditions.

Plant
Adaptations
The plant does not have a central nervous system like animals,
so they cannot respond to the environment in the same way as
animals do. However, plants make behavioural and physical
adaptations. In comparison with animals, plants have more
permanent adaptations. Plants cannot move, so either they
survive in the same place and produce offsprings or they do not.
Types of plant adaptations
Plants have to adapt to their environment to survive, like other living things. They
have to adjust their structures and metabolism to factors such as soils, water,
temperature, light , and so on. Some of the adaptations that plants have managed to
make throughout their evolution are:
o Thorns
o Acicular or needle-shaped leaves.
o Very large leaves to receive more sunlight.
o Fleshy leaves.
o Fleshy stems.
o Thick roots, such as tubers or rhizomes.
o Very extensive roots.
o Roots adapted to always being submerged in water, with or without contact with the ground.
o Rotating movement to get more sunlight.
o Reduce your metabolism to a minimum.
Structural Adaptation
A structural adaptation is a physical feature that makes a plant better suited to its environment.
Structural adaptations of plants can include spines, like those found on a cactus or rose. Another
structural adaptation in plants are large, wide leaves.

Behavioral Adaptation
Behavioral adaptations are actions that a plant takes in order to increase its chance of survival. An
example of a behavioral adaptation in plants are tropisms. Tropisms are the growth of plants toward
sunlight.

Physiological Adaptation
A physiological adaptation is an internal process that increases a plant's chance of survival. One
example of a physiological adaptation seen in plants is the creation of poison for defense. The
nightshade plant, for example, produces poison so that it is not consumed.

areas of focus
INTERNATIONALIZATION
o The network is anchored in Southern Scandinavia with members from Denmark and Sweden, but we have an international outlook.
We work on expanding our international focus and connecting with relevant, international stakeholders. One tool for this us our
annual symposium, where speakers and participants are invited from around the world for two days of presentations and networking.

Because&plant
REGULATION
biologicals are young products, there are still some challenges in terms of test and regulation. Standard
procedures or protocols for testing have not yet been developed and regulations is to some extend tailored to chemical and
not biologicals products. In the network we work on creating awareness about the current obstacles for test and approval
of new biologial products. We are in dialogue with Danish and Swedish regulators and have addressed the topic at our
annual symposium as well as a workshop on regulation for members.
Education & Entrepreneurship
o Spreading knowledge and awareness about plant biologicals central for the network. Our focus group includes
students at both universities and technical schools. Among other things we host a matchmaking event between
students and industry members in connection with our annual symposium.
o Likewise, a strong ecosystem is important for forstering innovation and development in the biologicals cluster.
The network therefore looks to supporting entrepreneurship and start-up companies to ensure a boost of new
biosolutions.

summary
Plants bring life and create a pleasant and serene atmosphere
in our home. plants absorb pollutants from the air through
their leaves and transform them into organic products which
they feed on and then release oxygen in the form of vapor.
Taking care of plants is a source of peace. Taking the time to
water, care for, prune and repot them helps us to slow down
our pace and reduce our stress. They bring oxygen in the air
we breathe and purify it. Moreover, they increase the
humidity level which contributes to our respiratory well-
being. But in addition to contributing to our physical and
moral well-being. the air in our homes is five to ten times
more polluted than the air outside. Although scientists are
divided on the depolluting power of indoor plants, they have
other attractions and virtues. So let’s be seduced and adopt
them at home.
