Bakhawan Eco-Park
Located along the Aklan River in Kalibo,

Aklan (the gateway to Boracay Island), the
Bakhawan Mangrove Forest offers a wide
variety of outdoor, cultural. The name
“Bakhawan” came from the local dialect that
means mangrove. This is one of the most
successful mangrove reforestation projects in
the country. It helped stop the flood
problems of the place but also gave
livelihood to the residents.

Banaue Rice Terraces
The Banaue Rice Terraces are terraces that were
carved into the mountains of Banaue, Ifugao, in
the Philippines, by the ancestors of the Igorot
people. The terraces are occasionally called the
"Eighth Wonder of the World". It is commonly
thought that the terraces were built with minimal
equipment, largely by hand.

TOWN Aroo Tree
As they formally erect and proclaim the town
as a civic unit, Agoo was named after the river
along whose banks it was built which at that
time was a forest of pine-like trees locally
called “agoo” or “aroo” (Casuarina
equisetifolia or Whistling Pine) that thrived in
the western coast during the pre-Spanish
Period.. The town also became the center of
pacification and conquest of the mountain
tribes in the Cordilleras.

years in its existence. With a trunk of

Elementary School where it has rooted.

Narra (Pterocarpus indicus) is a large
deciduous reddish hardwood tree that
is native to most Asian countries.
Widely introduced due to its many
uses, the narra was declared the
national tree of the Philippines in
1934 by Governor-General Frank
Murphy of the Insular Government of
the Philippine Islands.

Hila - lambat is a core essence
of the Agoo culture.It simply
means giving a hand to the
community and
accomplishing goals together
as one, thus lessening the
workload and making the job
easier. It is also called the
‘community spirit’.

Ramada
Thanksgiving Culture happen every Tres de Mayo.
Tres de Mayo is a feast day honoring Apo Lakay or the Sto Cristo Milagroso de Vigan who
is believed to have saved Vigan from a plague in 1882. A huge structures made of light
materials scattered around the city poblacion. These structures are built on the streets of
Vigan. It's like a welcome arch made of bamboos, palms and/or coconut leaves. Fruits and
goods are hanging from these light structures.

Bayanihan
In the Philippines, the Bayanihan
spirit is one of communal unity,
helping others without expecting
rewards, to achieve a certain goal.
In earlier days, when houses were
made of lighter materials such as
coconut leaves, Bayanihan also
meant helping one's neighbours
move their house — literally.

is a giant concrete statue of an eagle

take its flight and known as

Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) is
rich in ancient culture. It is the home of the
indigenous tribe called the Igorot. The way of
life of the people in this region existed way
back to ancient Filipinos before the Spanish
colonization. It is a mountain range
comprising one-sixth of the total land area of
Luzon Island; it is home to around 1.2 million
indigenous peoples collectively known as
Igorots.

Baro’t Saya
The baro’t saya or baro at
saya is a traditional dress
ensemble worn by women
in the Philippines. It is a
national dress of the
Philippines and combines
elements from both the
precolonial native Filipino
and colonial Spanish
clothing styles. Filipino

colorful, ornate and
beautiful.

Dinengdeng Festival
The Dinengdeng Festival, is the
official festivity event of the
municipality of Agoo, La
Union, Philippines. It is held
annually in summer in
celebration of a dish by which
its name is derived from.
REGIONAL Cañao (Kanyaw)
It is a ceremonial tradition of the indigenous mountain
people of Northern Luzon. It is a socio-religious ritual
where chickens, pigs and/or carabaos are butchered as a
sacrifice and feasted on. This is usually a thanksgiving
to their god Kabunyan.
L Pagmamano
Practiced as a sign of respect to elders,
pagmamano is one of the oldest and most notable
Filipino tradition there is. Mano means hand in
Spanish, fittingly so as pagmamano is done by
gently tapping the hand of the elder to a younger
person's forehead.

Luneta was built on the former location

notable were that of Rizal and the GomBurZa
(Gomez, Burgos, and Zamora) priests. Other
historic events held here were the declaration
of Philippine independence from the United
States in 1946 and the 1986 EDSA Revolution.
The most outstanding landmark of the park is
the Rizal Monument, where his remains lie
and marked by a statue made of bronze and
granite. Declared a national park in 1955
as Luneta National Park, it was then renamed
Rizal Park in 1967 in honor of the country’s
national hero.
