Health- Related
Fitness
It involves exercise activities that you do in
order to try to improve your physical health and
stay healthy particularly in the categories of
cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength,
flexibility, muscular endurance and body
composition.
1. Cardiovascular Endurance

The ability of the heart, lungs,


blood vessels, and blood to
work efficiently and to supply
the body with oxygen.
2. Muscular Strength

The ability of muscles to


lift a heavy weight or
exert a lot of force at a
time.
3. Muscular Endurance

The ability to use


muscles for a long
period of time without
tiring.
4. Body Composition

Body composition is used to


describe the percentages of
fat, bone, water, and muscle in
human bodies
5. Flexibility

The ability to use your


joints fully through a wide
range of motion.
Skill Related Fitness

These skill-related components are


movements that are necessary for
an individual to successfully
demonstrate a variety of motor
skills and movement patterns.
1. Agility

The ability to rapidly and


accurately change the
direction of the whole
body in space.
2. Balance

The ability to maintain


equilibrium while
stationary or moving.
3. Coordination
The ability to use the senses and body parts in order to
perform motor tasks smoothly and accurately.
4. Power
The amount of force a muscle can exert.
5. Reaction Time
The ability to respond quickly to stimuli.
6. Speed
The amount of time it takes the body to perform
specific tasks.
Physical Fitness Test

A standardized test prepared by the Bureau of


Physical Education and School Sports (BPESS). It
gives you information about the status of your
overall physical fitness.
BODY MASS INDEX
It is one of the tools in determining the
body’s composition. BMI is calculated by
taking a person’s weight and height.

METRIC BMI FORMULA:

Weight in kg
[Height in (m)]²
Example:

Weight = 68 kg
Height = 165 cm (1.65 m)
Calculation: 68 24.98
(1.65) ²

UNDERWEIGHT <18.5

2 Types of Physical Fitness Test
Pre-test – This test is done at the beginning of the school
year which includes fitness test to determine your fitness
status.

Post-test – This test is done during the last month of the


school year.
The results of both test serves as
the basis for providing continuous
activities or trainings in order to
maintain one’s fitness.
