after them and they fall out!!!).
• Do all adults have the same number of teeth?

• No, not everyone has wisdom teeth. Many studies have been
conducted and it is thought that around one third of adults do
not have wisdom teeth. Some people don't have the full set of 4.

• What are wisdom teeth?

• Wisdom teeth are an extra set of molars that typically form
behind the standard first and second set of molars in the jaw
and arrive between the age of 17 and 25 years in adults but can
much be later.
Milk Teeth

• Our first set of teeth are known as our milk teeth.

• Developed at age 6 to 8.
• There are 20 teeth in total at this point:
• eight incisors, four canines, four premolars and four molars.
Permanent Teeth

• Between 6 and 12 years old, our milk teeth are gradually replaced
with permanent teeth.
• There is a third set of molars called ‘wisdom teeth’ which appear in
our late teens – although they may not come through at all.
• This means adults have 32 teeth.
• The jaw gets bigger as we grow older, so there is space for those teeth
to appear.
• The human mouth contains 12 molars, eight (8) premolars, four(4)
canines and eight (8) incisors.
