“THEY CAN, SO DO WE”

THE ORIGIN OF FEMINISM COULD BE TRACED TO FRANCE WHEN IN
1837,CHARLES FOURIER, A FRENCH PHILOSOPHER COINED THE
WORD AND
BY 1910, FEMINISM HAS APPEARED IN MOST OF THE COUNTRIES IN
EUROPE AND IN THE U.S
•GENDER IDEOLOGY- refers to
attitudes regarding the appropriate roles,
rights and responsibilities of men and
women in society.
•GENDER INEQUALITY- refers
to unequal treatment or
perceptions of individuals based
on their gender.

DISCRIMINATION

OBJECTIFICATION

OPPRESSION

PATRIARCHY

STEREOTYPING
Many people incorrectly believe that feminist theory focuses
exclusively on girls and women and that it has an inherent goal of
promoting the superiority of women over men. In reality, feminist
theory has always been about viewing the social world in a way that
illuminates the forces that create and support inequality, oppression,
and injustice, and in doing so,
….promotes the
pursuit of
equality and
justice
Most feminist theorists
throughout history have been
women, however, today feminist
theory is created by
people of all
genders
It does not just focus on gendered power and
oppression, but on how it might interact with
systemic racism, a hierarchical
class system, sexuality, nationality, and
(dis)ability, among other things.
Basic Principles
• Working to increase equality: Feminist
thought links ideas to action, insisting we
should push for change toward gender equality
and not just talk about it.
BASIC PRINCIPLES
• Expanding human choice: Feminists believe that both
men and women should have the freedom to develop their
human interests and talents, even if those interests and
talents conflict with the status quo. For example, if a
woman wants to be a mechanic, she should have the right
and opportunity to do so.
BASIC PRINCIPLES
• Eliminating gender stratification:
Feminists oppose laws and cultural
norms that limit income, educational
and job opportunities for women.
BASIC PRINCIPLES
• Ending sexual violence & promoting sexual freedom:
Feminists feel that women should have control over
their sexuality and reproduction.
BASIC PRINCIPLES
• Feminism is a philosophy in which women and their
contributions are valued.
• It is based on social, political and economical equality for
women.
BASIC PRINCIPLES
• Feminists can be anyone in the population, men,
women, girl or boys.
• Feminism can also be described as a movement.
BASIC PRINCIPLES
• A revolution that includes women and men who
wish the world to be equal without boundaries.
These boundaries or blockades are better known
as discrimination and biases against gender,
sexual orientation, age, marital status and economic status.
GOALS
• To demonstrate the importance of
women.
• To reveal that historically women have
been subordinate to men
• To bring about gender equity
• Feminism fight for the equality of
women and argue that women should
share equally in society’s opportunities
and resources.
“We ,human , came from the same group of
systems, organs, tissues, etc. Everything that
makes you up, is also present to others. We are
all unique but equal in this world. No one is
above all others.”
