structure or form but also on its content.
*Fiction is driven by what is happening in
the life and background of the author.

prevailing theme . The theme is the big idea
presented in any fictional text . This is the overall
message that the author or the writer wants to
convey in writing a poem, novel, short story , or

theme of any story makes the readers connected to
what they are reading.
There are two types of themes:

theme Fictional work. This emobodies the central idea of
the story that can be seen until the very end of the

In writing fictional text, writers must develop an interesting or exciting theme to make the text more
engaging to target readers. The authors do not explicitly give the theme ,but rather they make their
readers infer it as they read.
We have to understand the author’s background so that the readers enables to know more about the
theme and the context presented in any fictional text.
The authors background provides an overview of the life of the writer. Significant life experience or historical events are
reflected in the writings of an author.
To better understand the content of any fictional work ,readers must also know the attitude expressed by an author toward a
given subject or topic. This is called the tone. The attitude or emotion of the authors creates a whole lot of meaning the
perspective to the story apart from the theme they want to convey and the life time events that inspired them.
The following are the two types of tones in
writing.

tone manner.Neutral manner suggests that it
doesn’t show any strong feeling about a
given topic. An example of this can be
seen in texts that factual details and
explanations.This tone sets a text in a
formal tone.
2.) Subjective This is used in creative writing particularly in
tone writing fictional texts. This tone makes use of
describing words that come in the form of
figure of speech and word-modifiers wherein it
creates a better idea of the speaker’s
voice.Since the tone describes the
feelings, experiences ,and thoughts found in the
text, it is inclined toward being personal,
emotional, and even informal.
