Before taking Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not
known whether amlodipine will harm an unborn baby. However, having high
this medicine blood pressure during pregnancy may cause complications such as diabetes or
eclampsia (dangerously high blood pressure that can lead to medical problems
in both mother and baby). The benefit of treating hypertension may outweigh
any risks to the baby.
Amlodipine can pass into breast milk, but effects on the nursing baby are not
known. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding.
Amlodipine is not approved for use by anyone younger than 6 years old.
What happens if Overdose symptoms may include rapid heartbeats, redness or
you overdose? warmth in your arms or legs, or fainting.
Amlodipine may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these
symptoms are severe or do not go away:
swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
headache
upset stomach
nausea
Amlodipine stomach pain
side effects dizziness or lightheadedness
drowsiness
excessive tiredness
flushing
Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms,
call your doctor immediately or get emergency medical treatment:
more frequent or more severe chest pain
rapid, pounding, or irregular heartbeat
fainting
What other drugs
nitroglycerin;
will affect simvastatin (Zocor, Simcor, Vytorin); or
amlodipine? any other heart or blood pressure medications.
