From Seed to a Plant
Lucky day! I dropped in a good dark soil. I’m glad there is little
water here, too, to make my coat soft.
I’m out of my coat at last. It’s good to be free. The only thing is,
there are many big plants around me and I get very little sunlight. I’ve
got to creep out where there’s more sunlight.
I’m pretty proud of the few small leaves I have but there isn’t
much air and sunlight though and my leaves aren’t very green.
I feel all dressed up like a princess. Now I got many leaves of
emerald green, and a few pretty flowers, too. My roots get a little food
from the soil each day to keep me growing.
At last, I have grown tall. Now I can see many tall trees. I love the
open field, the big mountains, and the whole blue sky. This is a beautiful
world, indeed!
Answer the following questions.
1. What dropped in a good dark soil?
2. How did its coat become soft?
3. Why did the plant feel like a
princess?
4. How did the plant grow?
Then, leaves grow on the plant.
First, a seed drops in a good dark soil where
there’s little water.
At last, the plant grows taller than the trees
around.
Next, the plant creeps out where there’s more
sunlight.
