GHEOGRAPHICA
L POSITION
Northern Ireland is a part of the
United Kingdom that
is variously described as a
country, province, territory or
region. Located in the
northeast of the island of
Ireland, Northern
Ireland shares a border to the
south and west with the
Republic of Ireland.
LANDMARK
-The Giant's Causeway
The Giant's Causeway is
probably the most famous and
most visited natural landmark in
Northern Ireland.
Located in County Antrim on the
north coast of Northern Ireland.
The Causeway is the result of an
ancient volcanic fissure eruption.
The cliffs and stone formations
around the Giants Causeway
provide a valuable habitat for a
BRIDGE WITH ROPE
– CARRICK-A-REDE

 A journey east from
Giant's Causeway, located
near the beautiful coastal
village of Ballintoy.
The rope bridge joins a
small island where the
fisherman would catch
salmon.
CAPITAL
Belfast is the capital and largest city of
Northern Ireland, standing on the banks of
the River Lagan on the east coast.
Belfast suffered greatly during the violence
that accompanied the partition of Ireland,
and especially during the more recent
conflict known as the Troubles.
PEOPLE'S ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS

Most-known for its love of traditions and customs, Ireland is

rich in its patriotism. In Ireland, sports account for much of the
Irish cultural identity. By means of preserving and promoting
Irish sports, the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) was
established in 1884.
Every year, thousands of people make the arduous, yet pious,
journey to the peak of Croagh Patrick. This mountain climb,
which is in honour of Ireland's patron, Saint Patrick, takes place
annually on the last Sunday of July.
SYMBOLS OF NORTHERN IRELAND:

The symbols of Ireland include SHAMROCK, the RED HAND,  the

WHITE RIBBON.
 The Red Hand of Ulster is the official seal of the O'Neill family. It's
one of the only emblems in Northern Ireland used by both
communities in Northern Ireland, catholics see it as representing the
nine counties of Ulster.
 Shamrock-legend has it that the shamrock was used by St.Patrick, the
patron saint of Ireland. It is one of Irelands national emblems, and is
