Timeline
Birth and early life
✣ Son of Someshwar Chauhan.
✣ Prithviraj Chauhan was an Indian king from the
Chahamana (Chauhan) dynasty.
✣ Showed his sharpness and brilliance by learning all
military skills from very early years.
✣ Succeeded to the throne of Ajmer at the age of 11, in
1179.
✣ Prithviraj’s grandfather Angam, the ruler of Delhi,
declared Prithviraj Chauhan as the heir to the throne of
Delhi.
Early reign and expansion of territory
✣ Prithviraj Chauhan had inherited a kingdom that extended
from Sthanvishvara in the north to Mewar in the south.

✣ Prithviraj was still a minor when he ascended the throne


so his mother, Karpuradevi, was made his regent.

✣ Expanded his empire mainly towards northwest India.


These regions mainly included the regions of Punjab,
Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Battles of Tarain

✣ Prithviraj Chauhan led the Rajput army in the Battles of Tarain fought
in 1191 and 1192 against the Ghurid force led by Shahabuddin
Muhammad Ghori.

✣ He won the first battle. Prithviraj released Ghori as he kept his hand
on Quran and asked for forgiveness.

✣ Chauhan was defeated at the second battle following which he was


captured.

Shabd Bhedi Baan Incident and Death

✣ Prithviraj mastered the skills of aiming the target


on the basis of its sound, known as the “Shabd
Bhedi” technique.

✣ Prithviraj chauhan killed Muhammad Ghori using


the Shabd Bhedi technique by hearing his voice
and shooting in his direction.
LEARNINGS

✣ Prithviraj Chauhan used to TAKE A STAND FOR WHAT HE


BELIEVED IN.

✣ He always kept his followers or his people close and together


because he knew the POWER OF TEAMWORK.
His learnings thought us to be FIERCELY PATRIOTIC.

✣ He became a king at the age of 11, this made him more


responsible.
