The Soft Approach to
Peace
•This approach is best exemplified
whenever someone is passive/submissive
in their dealings with others. Idealist
society praises these people as
peacemakers.

•Scripture often used to support this is:

•- Matthew 5: 39: Turning the other cheek

The Hard Approach
to Peace
•This approach is best exemplified whenever
someone is aggressive/abrasive in their dealings
with others. Idealist society sees these people as
wicked villains.

•But…. Contemporary society sees these

people as protectors.

•Scripture often used to support this is:

•- Ecclesiastes 7:16: So don't be too good or too
wise - why kill yourself?

Resolve
•As we look at the characteristic of the soft
and hard approach to peace as well as the
precedent of their respective applications, it
can be argued that the soft approach (when
successful) assures peace for the ‘other
person’, while the hard approach (when
successful) assures peace…. for you.
