Online Library Management

System
Abstract
• E-Library is a web based application aims in developing
to manage the library daily activity in electronic format.
• It is used by members to manage the library using an
online system.
• It can record various transactions like issue of books,
return of books, addition of journals etc.
• It also has a facility of admin login through which the
admin can monitor the whole system
• It has also a facility to see list of books issued and its
issue date and return date and also the members can post
the book in E-Library
Existing System
• In our existing system all the transaction of books are
done manually.
• It taking more time for a transaction like borrowing a
book or returning a book and also for searching
• Another major disadvantage is that to preparing the list of
books borrowed and the available books in the library.
• It will also take more time, currently it is doing as a one
day process for verifying all records.
• So after conducting the feasibility study decided to make
the manual Library management system to be
computerized.
Disadvantages
• Fast report generation is not possible.
• Tracing a book is difficult.
• Information about issue/return of the books is not
properly maintained.
• No central database can be created as information is not
available in database.
Proposed system
• Proposed system is an automated E-Library System.
• Using this application user can add books, search books,
borrow books in quick time through online.
• With this computerized system there will be no loss of
book record or member record
• Books and member maintenance modules are also
included in this system.
• It would keep track of the members using the E-library
• list of books issued and its issue date and return date and
also the members can post the book in E-Library

Administrative interface
Login Module
• The Administrator logs in using the admin login.
• In this administrator has the full authority over the Application.
• In this System, the administrator has the power to add or update or
delete all the details.
Book Registration Module
• This feature allows to add new books and Journals to the library
Functional requirements
• System must be able to verify information
• System must be able to enter number of copies into table.
• System must be able to not allow two books having same book id.

Issue and Return Module
• This feature allows issuing and returning books and also viewing
reports of book issued.
Functional requirements
• System must be able to enter issue information in database.
• System must be able to update number of books.
• System must be able to search if book is available or not before
issuing books
• System should be able to enter issue and return date information
Report module
• This module helps to generate the reports like the Issue Report; the
Collection Report which is in can be exported in table.

User interface
Member Login Module
• This feature used by the user to login into system.
• The user id and password will be verified and if invalid id is there user is
allowed to not enter the system.
Member Registration Module
• This feature can be performed by all users to register new user to create
account.
Search Module
• Search book based on book id, book name, and publication or by author
name.
Pay Module
• The member has to pay the fine if any on the basis of no. of days delayed
return of the book in the library.

Conclusion
• Thus the E-Library Project is successful for
organizations that work proper analysis of positive
points.
• It can be safely concluded that the product is a highly
efficient web based component.
• This software had proved much efficient and data
maintenance is achieved practically.
• It helps the organization in decision making, correct
information is available.
Future Work
• Automatic mails should be sent to the users about the
expiry of due dates for the books/journals borrowed by
them.
• An advance notification (say, 4 days before the expiry of
the due date) should be sent as well.
• Provide more online tips and help.
