' TWO PROMISES '

Chapter 10 also known as 'Two Promises' is totally

based on the theme of sacrifice. Charles had many
wealth to recieve soon but he rejects all of them just
to win Lucie's Love. Years have passed and Darnay
lives in London, and works as a French teacher. One
day, Darnay visits Dr Mannete and tells that he loves
Lucie and wants to marry her. Dr Mannete was
scared but when Charles reveals that he would not
separate them, then his expression changed and he
was less scared.
PROMISE BY DARNAY
01 Darnay promises not to take Lucie away from
her father.

PROMISE BY MANNETE
02 Manette promises to give Lucie to Darney if
she should ever ask her father to marry him.
Manette doubts about Carton and Stryver as he
thinks that they would also love Lucie. However
Mannete says that he would give Lucie to Darnay if
she asks her father to marry him. Charles appreciates
Dr. Manette's trust in him and wants to pay it
forward by disclosing a mystery on his own: his real
identity.
Manette, however, completely stops him.
He wants Charles to tell about his real identity the
morning of his wedding, not before.
Lucie enters that evening and realise her father once
more creating shoes. Which means that he is not
fully healed from his mental disorder. Afterwards
when she comes again in the room, Dr Mannete was
asleep and tools for shoemaking were like not used.
'A COMPANION PICTURE
