Artificial Intelligent
AI refers to the ability of machines to
perform cognitive tasks like thinking,
perceiving, learning, problem solving and
decision making. Initially conceived as a
technology that could mimic human
intelligence, AI has evolved in ways that far
exceed its original conception.

What is Artificial intelligence??
Artificial intelligence is constructed by the combination of
two word ARTIFICIAL and INTELLIGENCE , where
artificial means man-made and intelligence means
thinking power , combing them up it meaning comes a
man-made thinking power...Therefore it is a branch of
computer science by which we can create intelligent
machines which can behave like human ,think like
human and can make decisions…
History of AI
▪ John McCarthy is known as the father
of AI.
▪ Artificial intelligence was first
conceptualized in 1950 by Alan Turing.
▪ The term AI was first used at the
Dartmouth Conference in 1956 by
John McCarthy, during the early stage
of development of AI it was restricted
John to problem solving.

Brief History Of AI
▪ 1950- Alan Turing “Computing machinery and intelligence,” asks “Can machines think??”
▪ 1956- Artificial intelligence first coined by John McCarthy at Dartmouth college.
▪ 1959- Artificial intelligence laboratory founded at MIT.
▪ 1974- The first AI winter funding and interest evaporate.
▪ 1975- MYCIN, a system that diagnoses the bacterial infections and recommends antibiotics, is developed.
▪ 1987- Second AI winter begins.
▪ 1989- NASAs AutoClass Program used to discover new classes of stars.
▪ 1994- First web search engines launched.
▪ 1997- IBMs Deep Blue beats world champion Garry Kasparov at chess.
▪ 2002- Amazon replaces the human editors with an automated system.
▪ 2011- Apple released Siri, a personal voice agent.
▪ 2016- Google’s AlphaGo defeats Lee Sodal ; one of the world’s leading Go player.
Importance of AI
▪ Artificial Intelligence's importance and subsequent components have been known for a long
time. They are being seen as tools and techniques to make this world better. And it's not like
you have to go through to be able to use these fancy tech gadgets. You can look around, and
I'm sure most of your work is smoothed out by artificial intelligence.
▪ Its importance lies in making our life easier. These technologies are a great asset to humans
and are programmed to minimize human effort as much as possible. They can operate in an
automated fashion. Therefore, manual intervention is the last thing that can be sought or
seen during the operation of parts involving this technology.
▪ These machines speed up your tasks and processes with guaranteed accuracy and precision,
making them a useful and valuable tool. Apart from making the world an error-free place
with their simple and everyday techniques, these technologies and applications are not only
related to our ordinary and everyday life. It is affecting and holds importance for other
domains as well.
Risks of AI
Every technological and advancement and breakthrough bring risk along with benefits,
which is also applicable for AI as well it can be also misused. Like can be used to make
weapons, terrorists can use it to maximise the effect of their attacks ,cybercriminals can hack AI
and use peoples information and/or data, etc...Some of the risks of AI are :-
• Automation-spurred job loss
• Privacy violations
• Deepfakes
• Algorithmic bias caused by bad data
• Socioeconomic inequality
• Market volatility
• Weapons automatization
Benefits of AI
Some of the benefits of AI are:-
▪ AI drives down the time taken to perform a task. It enables multi-tasking and
eases the workload for existing resources.
▪ AI enables the execution of hitherto complex tasks without significant cost
outlays.
▪ AI operates 24x7 without interruption or breaks and has no downtime
▪ AI augments the capabilities of differently abled individuals
▪ AI has mass market potential, it can be deployed across industries.
▪ AI facilitates decision-making by making the process faster and smarter.
Goals of AI
AI is primarily achieved by
reverse-engineering human
capabilities and traits and
applying them to machines.
At its core, AI reads human
behavior to develop
intelligent machines. Simply
put, the foundational goal of
AI is to design a technology
that enables computer
systems to work
intelligently yet
independently.
What contributes to AI
Artificial intelligence is a science and
technology based on disciplines such
as Computer Science, Biology,
Psychology, Linguistics,
Mathematics, and Engineering. A
major thrust of AI is in the
development of computer functions
associated with human intelligence,
such as reasoning, learning, and
problem solving.

India and AI
According to a NASSCOM report, AI is expected to add USD 450–500 billion to
India's GDP by 2025, accounting for 10% of the country's USD 5 trillion GDP
target. Highly digitised industries such as IT, financial services, telecommunications
and media, and retail have led the way in AI implementation. We have also seen AI
and machine learning being used for digital twins that span automation, real-
time decision-making, and strategic modelling in India,” he added. One reason
for the growing use of AI in India has been the ongoing efforts by the government
to shore up the country's manufacturing capabilities. NITI Aayog released its
National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence in 2018. The strategy is focused on
economic growth and increasing social inclusion while encouraging dialogue
around issues such as privacy and ethics. The overarching goal is to “make India a
global leader in AI by ensuring responsible and transformative AI for all.”
