ALLIED HEALTH

• The branch of the health care field that delivers services


involving identification, evaluation, and prevention of
diseases and disorders, dietary and nutrition services, and
rehabilitation and health systems management.
2 CATEGORIES

1. Technicians
Trained to perform procedures, and
their education lasts less than 2 years.
They are required to work under the
supervision of technologists or
therapists.
Ex: Cardiovascular technicians,
ophthalmic medical technician and
medical assistant.

2. Therapist / Technologist
Educational process is more intensive.
They know how to evaluate patients,
diagnose conditions and develop
treatment plans. They assist
physicians.
Ex: Anesthesiologist assistant,
neurodiagnostic technologist and
pathologists’ assistant.
