Corrosion
PREVENTION METHODS OF CORROSION
• Definition
• An inhibitor is a chemical
substance or combination of
substances which when added in
very low concentrations in a
corrosive environment effectively
prevents or reduces corrosion
without significant reaction with
the components of the
environment.

CONCLUSION
Green inhibitors are not only low-cost efficient, but also an eco-friendly way to
protect metals against corrosion. Plants are a good source of active principles. Their
efficiency mainly depends on the active material and the mechanism by which they
inhibit or hinder the oxidation of metals. Furthermore, electrochemical tests are
conducted to understand and evaluate their efficiency. Nevertheless, the use of green
inhibitors is not unconditioned, their limitations are defined by some parameters such as
temperature, concentration and the nature of metals on which they were tested.
