Paper Arts is the
collection of art forms
employing paper as the
primary medium for the
creation of three-
dimensional objects.
It lends itself to a wide
range of techniques, as
it can for instance be
folded, cut, glued,
molded, stitched, or
layered.
Origami

"folding",
and kami meaning
"paper" art of
paper folding,
which is often
associated with
Japanese culture.
Japanese origami
began sometime after 
Buddhist monks carried
paper to Japan during
the 6th century.
The first Japanese
origami dates from this
period and was used for
religious ceremonial
purposes only, due to
the high price of paper.

become a significant
aspect of Japanese
ceremonies by the Heian
period (794-1185)
