Benefits
● Nanotechnology is having a big and strong impact
on human life, almost as important as that of
antibiotics, integrated circuits, microelectronics and
other human-made advances.

● The benefits of nanotechnology in several fields of

research have been described in each of the
previous sections, and applications in lubricants
could be developed in the medium term, as well as
implants and water purification.

● It may be possible to achieve new high- strength

light polymer materials and ceramics, bearing
surface coatings and other moving parts subjects to
wear in cars, nanoparticle-based paints among
others.
Risk of application - The aplicacion are multiple and varied
most current research is focus on the
synthesis and development of
nanomaterial.
- Little research is focus on biological
impact of these products.
- The study of the risks of their
application focus on only two aspects
1. Through the manufacturing process of
nanoparticles and nanofibers
2. During the end use of the product which could
bring risks to health and the environment

- Scientist wonder long term effect of medical
application of nanotechnology and whether this
material would be biodegradable
- The size of the nanoparticles are close to a cell
component this will suggest they can cause
damage to other cells
OTHER RISKS
Some nanoparticles can move through the
cell membrane, making them successful drug
carriers; but, outside the body, there is
concern that they could target cells of healthy
people or animals without discrimination.

It's important to remember that we've been exposed to several nanoparticles for centuries without suffering
any major health consequences; however, in recent decades, it's been suggested, but not proved, that such
exposures could be to blame for the observed links between air pollution and various diseases, especially heart
and lung diseases.

There are organizations dedicated to promoting the creation of a group of experts in ethical, legal, and social
concerns related to nanotechnology, such as the National Nanotechnology Initiative in the United States. This
project also involves the development of knowledge tools on intellectual property ethics and legal issues, as
well as the ethical consequences of patents based on nanotechnology and trade secrets.
