PART I: OPERATING
SYSTEMS
WHAT IS AN OPERATING SYSTEM?

• The most essential software system that runs on a computer is the operating system. It
controls the memory, functions, software, and hardware of the computer. You can
converse with the computer using this method even if you don't understand its language.
A computer cannot function without an operating system.
TYPES OF OPERATING SYSTEMS PART I:
DESCRIPTION
Any computer you buy usually comes with an operating system that is pre-loaded. Most
people use the operating system that comes with their computer, while some people use the
system already uploaded some people upgrade and change operating systems. The three
most common operating systems for personal computers are Microsoft Windows, macOS,
and Linux.
TYPES OF OPERATING SYSTEMS PART II: THEIR
USES
• As you know now, there are many different operating systems for specific devices.
• macOS: macOS are used for laptops specifically designed by Apple.
• And vice-versa for Windows, Microsoft and Linux
• Operating systems are used for all devices, not only computers
PART II: HARDWARE
THE MOTHERBOARD

The mother board is a circuit board that connects all of your hardware to your processor,
and distributes electricity from your power supply, and defines the types of storage devices,
memory modules, and graphics cards that can connect to your PC.
THE CPU

• CPU stands for Central Processing Unit, it is the primary component of a computer that
acts as the main part of control The CPU, also referred to as the “central” or “main”
processor, is a complex set of electronic circuitry that runs the machine's operating
system and apps.
THE HARD DRIVE

A hard drive is the hardware part of your computer that stores all of your digital
content/data. For example, your documents, pictures, music, videos, programs, application
preferences, and operating system represent digital content stored on a hard drive. Hard
drives can be external or internal.
THE RAM

• RAM stands for random-access memory, your computer ram is essentially short term
memory where data is stored as it needs it. But don’t confuse it with the long-term data
that's stored on your hard drive because they are quite opposites.
THE GRAPHICS CARD

• The graphics card is used for the render graphics. Without a graphics card, your computer
can not display any information, or function how you need it to function.
